Anyone installed a nitrous kit on a rl?
Im currently looking to boost my engine by the cheapest and most efficient way possible ( aside from cheap parts and or labor). My engine has 200k miles on it but was 100% maintained and serviced at a honda/acura only shop. And it was babied and driven slow before I recieved it. With the enigine being in good condition given the mileage would the addition of a nitrous kit be a suitable upgrade? Has anyone tried it? Any tips or other suggestions are appreciated.

Nitrous isn't a good idea especially with these engines. You don't want to be replacing piston rings on our motors..

There is a DIY sticky on www.acura-legend.com

the RL engine is not a high compression engine and therefore the amount of octane additives in the no2 would cause extreme wear and tear on the pistons eventually leading to blown heads or bent rods.
it can be done, but know what you are heading towards.
but most importantly, have fun and good luck!

Suggestion: save your money for a new car. The RL, and the previous gen in particular, is not a car built for the dragstrip. It's a quiet, comfortable, decently-powered cruiser. Appreciate it for what it is, and you'll be perfectly happy. Expect something from it that it's not, and you'll never be happy.

appreciate it for what it is, a "refined luxury" vehicle.
i understand tuners always feel the need to step out of the boundries of their vehicle tuning, but when it comes to cars like the RL...unless you have money, its not a car to track.
you should do audio and aesthetic mods.
either way, goodluck and i hope to see a great looking car in the future

Haha, don't get me wrong I enjoy having the "refined luxury" of my rl just fine but compared to other cars in its class like the ls400 its pretty slow. I have 2 12 inch audiobahns already and Im about to tint the windows with the silver mirror tint, however I'm still searching for a suitable engine upgrade short of adding a turbo.

As for modding--It's not worth wasting money on "performance" mods on this car (especially one with 200k on the odometer). Not only would you be adding stress to an engine that is already starting to get tired, you'll be pouring money done the drain...you'll never get that money back out of the car.
Save the cash for your next vehicle. It's just not worth it for the very modest gains you'll get.
That's my
