10 vs 8.5 inch rims

I am planning on getting some new rims for my 2007 WDP RDX soon. I am planning on getting 20's but I have no clue how wide I want to go. I was wondering, now that I have seen some people going with 10 inch rims, what the difference between a 8.5 and a 10 inch rim is and what would you suggest. Is 8.5 better for AWD? Also it is between the TSW Donington Black or MRR HR-2 rims. Do you all think black rims will look good on a white RDX? Feedback is appreciated

I am very happy with my 20x10 setup. The 8.5's would be lighter though.

I used to like black wheels but the details are less noticeable than other color wheels from afar.

Black on white works. So does gold on white.

i'd guess the difference is about an inch and a half.. hehehehe...

think about what tire size you ultimately wanna go with,...stretching on a wider rim, and squeezing onto a smaller rim. Might be more about your offset to make sure it all fits.

As mentioned in other posts.. My size, 255/40 has a limited selection of tires, where other sizes may have more tire variety available.

Smaller, may be better for your power steering. Don't imagine it would affect the SH-AWD all too much.

...and i think black will go real nice on your white RDX

how did you make 20x10 fit

Hi,

Just curious as to how you got your 20x10 rims to fit on the RDX?

I have 19x10 and I would really like to use them. Also what tire size should I use?

Thanks.

it'll depend on the offset of your wheels. find a tire size calculator, plenty of them online, think 1010 tires has one...and you'll want something as close as posible to the overall diameter of the stock tires so you don't have issues if you ever need to use your spare.

Keep in mind. stock offered 2 sizes, so you may have even a lil more wiggle room than you may think.. and keep plenty of air in your spare. lower profile tires will be fairly stiff, so you don't want a mushy spare tire "sagging" and making any small difference larger.

My specs are:
19x10
35 offset
5x114.3 bolt pattern

1010tire was showing i need to go 265/30/19 tires. do you know if i would be rubbing at all? or if i need to get the car lifted? right now everything is stock height.

also Bighatch whats your wheel spec and tire spec?

30 series does not sound right.. maybe you mistyped..

Hmmm... 35 would mean the center of the rim is 5mm closer to the back side than my 40's, pushing the edge of the hoop towards the outside of the fender. of course you'll have .5" more hoop on either side than me too.

I think InfamousJamous might have a 40 offset with 10", and his sit about perfect visually IMO.. but i cant speak to thew 35 offset personally.

my wheel and new tire specs are in my sig.. still have the old tires in my old pics.

If you are going 10 inch wide. 40 is the highest offset that would work.

I have 20x10 +45 and they is not much clearance in the inner part of the car. The front barely clears the shock.

The rear hits the trailing arm.
