Won’t start

Hello all, my 07 rdx decided not to start . It turns over just fine but not a hint of ignition . I pulled to fuel line at the rail and I get a good flow just no spark . This happened suddenly and there are no related codes . Any ideas. Thanks ,Dave

Do you have a spare key you can try using to start the car?

The engine cranks just fine, just not a hint of ignition , not a couch ,spit or sputter. I have only one key, they aren’t chipped are they ?

all modern cars are chipped keys.
dating back to like at least the early 2000s

do you have a green flashing key symbol on the dash? when trying to start?

No, just all the normal lights. Could something as simple as the crank position sensor cause this

A crank position sensor could cause your issue. So could the car not recognizing the chip in your key. Unfortunately it's not so simple to identify. That's why I was hoping you had the spare to rule out the key.

There's power going in but maybe no high voltage going out, cut of the gas pump, release pressure of the line them put the spark plug on, touch ground wile cranking to see if the spark plug gives the spark. Not sure if its the proper way, but if it would be mine that's the way I would try, do it at your hone risk, be sure there's no gas.

I’m having the same issue. Except now it won’t even try to turn over. I think the fuel pump is ok (I can hear something when I turn key to on) and I have a new battery, alternator is not even 2 years old and I have replaced the fuel pump relay. And I tried to jump start just to be sure it wasn’t battery related. Still won’t start. And the green key light comes on then immediately off indicating it recognizes the key. So I’m stumped at this point.

Fuel, air, spark. Verify all three.

Thanks. I’ve had it towed to a local shop. The closest dealer is an hour away. I’ll let you know what they say.

Had one similar issue, found a big fuse blown, had to order one for about 15$. I switched the 80A and 100A (different car than yours) within the panel, to start for a few days while waiting for the order (iirc lost the entertaiment during that time): my son had previously hooked the battery reversed.

Second time with no cranking had to remove and replace a bad starter. Had a bad battery occur at same time which was an odd coincidence.

in either case had no crank, battery or jumping wont help either.

Good luck, post the fix when done...

Similar problem hoping someone can help.

I have a 2009 RDX Turbo that will not start; well most of the time. The last two days I put key in the ignition (Lock position) a few dash lights come on. Switch to Accessory position, dash will light up, radio will come on.... but when I flip to On position everything dies. Turning key to Start does nothing. If I flip back to Accessory position dash lights back up but clock is reset and radio requires audio code.
however, after letting it set for a few hours I tried again and started right up. Let run for 10-15 mins, turned off and tried again. No luck.
as background I have had intermittent electrical issues, but that was over a year ago. About two months ago I replaced the battery and starter motor. Since then all has been fine. Any suggestions???

Do you have a second key you could try to start with? It sounds like the chip in the key is dead or the immobilizer has gone bad and doesn’t recognize the key.

check the alternator charging voltage, seems not charging during those 10-15 mins of idle running, battery unable to restart right away.
Also for testing purposes disconnect the hands free link for several consecutive days with no driving, see if there is any change in symptoms, battery seems to recover needed voltage with a few hours break.
Check your grounding wires too, as part of symptoms seem contradictory or random, one is bolted to the side engine mount, the other below the battery/intake hidden out of view

good luck

No luck replacing the key fob battery. Tried a couple times and occasionally I heard an clicking and/or buzzing sound under the hood. Sounds were coming from the middle of engine and maybe from the alternator but not 100% sure.

Maybe an issue with hfl

After recharging the battery my 2009 RDX fired right up. And after more testing discover a constant voltage drain of about 210 milliamps.
and after more researching it appears this is not a new issue with Acuras. So trying to find the hfl fuse to see if popping that will solve (short term) the issue. I have looked in the owners manual and searched online but no luck. Anyone know which fuse to pull to cut off power to hfl!?

on my 2008, I managed to slide my hand in and disconnect the cable from HFL module, left it in place.
