hey everyone, i have a simple problem and i'm trying to get some feedback before i go running to a tech. My car seen to start up fine when the engine is cold. But once i get it running and i shut off and start to start the engine, nothing happens. All my light everything seen to power up jjust fine. But my starter will just not start. I would have to sit there and like turn my key back and forth around 5 times before my starter cranks up.

I'm using a switchblade key

Can it be my key? or is my starter failing?

next time when its warm and it wont start, give the starter a couple of light taps with a hammer and see if it will fire up. if it does then ya i would say starter.

 

i think i found a way to start it up. I open and close the switch rapidly; maybe on the 3rd attempt car will start.

 

Does this smell like an ignition switch to anyone else?

 

Ignition switch, relay, or the interlocks.
With a manual, the clutch has to be in, with an auto, it has to be in park or neutral....

The switches can cause problems.

have you checked the condition of the battery? Terminals?
