unknown remote start??
I bought my 08 RDX used in 2014. I've done routine maintenance and replaced the AC compressor. I've had no big issues until now. On two occasions the car has started on its own apparently from a series of lock/unlock presses on the key. I only have the door lock/panic key fobs. I don't have a remote start fob and I certainly wasn't told of remote start when I bought it.
Is it possible that the previous owner lost the remote fob and sold the car without saying anything? Is there a secret/emergency way to start the engine with the key that has it taken me 4 years to discover? Or do I have an electrical issue in my ignition switch?
I certainly would like to have remote start but do I go to the local dealer and pay an arm and a leg for a new remote? Anyone have any ideas?
The RDX has the tech/nav package, if that makes a difference.

Aftermarket alarms/remote starts can work with the factory key. My aftermarket alarm/remote start works with my factory key. I can also use my phone, oled key, or valet key. You need to take your vehicle to a car alarm/remote start place since all those wires are hidden under your dash. Unless you know how to take apart the underside of your dash.

Try pressing the lock button 3 consecutive times, to see if the car starts, that is one of the sequences used for 1 way remote start.
If you drop the cover under the driver side, look for a couple black boxes that don’t seem to belong. This would be the brain of the after market part Look for Idata or CompuSTAR on the box. They are the most well known aftermarket remote start manufactures. Good luck.
