TPMS function error
So I've had my RDX for nearly 10 years, bought it new and it has about 65k miles on the odo. This last weekend I took it to Lake Tahoe. While driving on the highway, I would occasionally get these TPMS function errors in the MID. The TPMS idiot light would illuminate, and when I set the MID to show the PSI, all four tires showed "--". Usually after some time (30-60 minutes) the error would go away and all seemed well. This happened 3 or 4 times during my trip. At first I thought maybe it was temperature related as it was in the low 30s in Tahoe. But even after driving back down to the valley in milder temps, I still had one instance of this error.
Any idea what the problem could be? Does weather affect the sensor readings? All four tires appear to be fine. I am on my second set of tires, but up until this trip, I've never seen a TPMS error. Since I've returned home the error hasn't resurfaced.

We had the same problem in our '11 RDX. I learned the our's was caused by cell phone charger adapters plugged into the 12v outlets. I now pull them out until we need to use them. It's an easy thing to try first.

Hmm... very interesting. I did have a cell phone charging during most of the drive. I will keep an eye on that and see if there is any correlation.

Are you using the 12v inside the armrest or the one on the by the stereo controls? I have a 12v plug with 2 USB ports on it inside the center console for our iPhones. No issues with TPMS on my 08 RDX (yet). Not sure if both 12v plugs are on the same circuit?

I was using the 12v plug by the stereo controls. It an "Aukey" 2 port USB plug that I plugged a USB-C cable to charge my phone while driving. The TPMS error would only happen after some extended time on the highway. Here at home around town, it hasn't happened since. But it's mostly city driving.

Our malfunction happened only on long trips too. It was ramdom too. the first time it happened I stopped and checked the tire pressure which was fine.
I not sure it matters which 12v port you plug the charger into.
We use a double plug adpt in the front port near the cup holders.

My TPMS error hasn't happened again. I'm starting to think charging my phone over a long drive might be the culprit. But maybe the USB charger I have causes some sort of interference with the TPMS wireless signals.

Yeah, that happens to us, too (2008 RDX Base). Freaked me out at first - driving on a crazy section of highway around Atlanta and the TPMS error came on. I'd read somewhere else about mobile phone/charger interference and we noticed pretty quickly that the error only appeared when a phone was charging. Definitely a weird little glitch.

I have a USB adapter always plugged into the cigarette lighter just below the radio. It's never caused problems before. But it's good to know that this is just a quirk and not a real malfunction of TPMS.

Bumping this old thread because I've been having the same issue. It is very intermittent as well, so of course it stops happening when the car is in the shop.
While I had hoped removing all my chargers from the cigarette lighters would resolve the issue as others had suggested, the issue still persists.
Anyone else have any suggestions?

These cars are old enough now where the original sensor batteries are undoubtedly starting to fail; I was having similar issues and then got a set of new rims/tires/sensors and the problems went away.

Unfortunately swapping the sensors out for new is the anticipated action; it's best done when getting new tires as they have to come off the rims to change the sensors.
Last several sets I bought (2x Acura, 1x Toyota) I got from Rock Auto.
