Tire Sensors (Programming) and Climate System
Tire Sensors (Programming) and Climate System
2007 RDX
My tire shop was suggesting I have to use their sensors so they can be programmed to use the same code as the sensors currently on the vehicle. They said the vehicle would have to be reprogrammed every time there is a tire swap for the new sensors if I didnt go their route on using their sensors. Is there any truth for Hondas needing to be reprogrammed for the code in the tires being used? I dont recall needing to do this before when I swapped from winters to summers.
Also Im getting a groan or fart type sound when I first use the vehicle and sometimes while driving. It sounds like its coming from either the lower dash on the drivers side or even around the pedal area. My mechanic suggest it could be the cilmate system with the valves or whatever. True? Or am I needing to look for something else for this sound issue?

1. Are you trying to provide the tire shop with your own TPMS valvestems? If so they may not have a TPMS programming tool that can do your brand of TPMS sensors. Some of them can only reprogram certain models (cheaper Autel TPMS tools can only reprogram Autel-branded TPMS sensors for example). That said I'd imagine a proper tire shop should have one of the more expensive TPMS tools that can reprogram any brand.
1a. OEM TPMS sensors don't need to be programmed.
2. There's no way to accurately diag that noise from a text description on a forum. If you suspect HVAC is the culprit, start the car with everything (blower fan, radio etc.) turned off and see if you still hear the noise. Since it sounds (no pun intended) like the noise happens when the car is stationary, that rules out suspension, brakes etc. as the cause of the noise. You might want to open the hood and see if you can pinpoint the source of the noise that way.

Groaning noise from footwell area
Mine does that, too. I believe it comes from an hvac “blend door”, one of the plastic flaps that redirects airflow within the cabin.
I’ve just decided to live with the sound (which is often comical.)
Could possibly be solved by lubrication but I am not pulling the dash out—I’m too old for that!
