2007 TL, TPMS Madness

Hey guys! Got a crazy TPMS Issue.

Nothing happened until Belle Tire put new tires on my car.... Tire are great, however, the TPMS System is acting VERY funky.

Initially, the front right was reading either 58 PSI, or the PSI the tire was at. My shop (which is not Belle Tire) replaced that sensor and it reads correct now. When the system is not throwing an error code all the sensors read correctly, except for one them randomly popping to 58, then back to whatever the correct pressure is.

Sometimes it throws the Orange TPMS Error code right when I start the car, or 50 miles down the road after reading correctly for the entire drive. Then, once I turn the car off and start it again the code clears and the system functions correctly. I'll be taking it back to the shop next week for them to diagnose is. Dude is leaning towards a bad TPMS module but parts and labor on that are like $500 to $600, so, I'm hoping it's no that lol. Has anyone had an issue like this on thier 07/08 TL? My car is basically perfect otherwise

That's what we did

Front right was bad, we replaced that, still getting an error.

He did say that the two rears had stored codes but were otherwise functioning normally, so, idk. I'm assuming it's unlikely that the module is bad as I haven't seen much about that on here. Scheduled to take it in next week

I MUST HAVE MY 15 YEAR OLD 250K MILE CAR ACT/DRIVE/RIDE LIKE IT'S NEW hahaha

Wouldn't be the first time brand new part was faulty.

Yep, funny you should mention a bad part because that first sensor they put in was bad. Replaced that the system functioned longer without erroring out but it still errors out. Maybe it's another bad sensor? As long as it not the actual module itself it shouldn't be too expensive lol.

Wondering if it might be a loose connection in the module wiring??

That's what my guy at the shop was wondering as well, so, we shall see! That's the only thing makes sense to me, because all the sensors are reporting the correct PSI until the whole system randomly clonks out. I legit haven't found on post on here where the poster had to replace a TPMS Module. Although, I have been told I am ultra OCD, so, perhaps I'm the only who cares enough to get it done lol.

Have you tried moving the "suspect and new" sensor to different corners of your car to see if the reading in the display follows?

I have not. Since they replaced the one that was clearly bad I haven't had issues with any individual sensor other than the front left one, literally in the blink of an eye, say "58" then it went back to what the tire also is.

You are not alone in OCDness. When the HFL on my old '05 went out, I replaced it and confirmed it worked, then disconnected it. Now I disconnect them as a PM.

What's the HFL? I have only had an 01 TL and 07 TL, so, I skipped right over the 04 to 06. As far as I'm concerned I don't need to drive another type of car for the rest of my life. I've had a flare in my trans from 2nd to 3rd for 60k miles, so, I'm actually looking forward to when that breaks so I'll also have a perfect tranmission lmfao.

Hands Free Link - Bluetooth wireless connectivity for your phone and is on all of the 3G TL model years. Has been know to fail and become a parasitic drain on the battery. Many folks just disconnect vs. getting fixed or replaced.

Hands Free Link in the overhead console (phone) that is the major fault in the TLs.

Replace your pressure switch in the trans (and the fluid) and save yourself a few thousand bucks.

I almost wish my seats were worn out so I could redo them in fancy leathers...almost.

Swap the wheels if you want to narrow it down faster since you have put 2 sensors on. If the problem is in the same corner after, you can look further than the wheel sensor.

Oh man, so I did that basically when I first got the car. 2nd and 3rd gear pressures switches. It was interesting because while the faulty ones were in there it didn't have a flare, it would just downshift so hard it was like slamming on the brakes. Then, I swapped them in and it othewise functioned perfectly it just started to flare from 2nd to 3rd, so, I just let off the gas or switch gears below 2k RPM or above 3300 RPM lol. Idk how my seats are still g2g lol what's its like $500 per seat for labor and leather?
