If my RDX sits for more than overnight it will not start. I had the battery changed, but it still happens.

 

Your ac might be constantly engages and on running even when the car is off this is what happened to me. A mechanic had showed me where the ac clutch is and how it was still activated even when the car was off, there for draining the battery to run power to it until the battery was dead.

 

Search next time.

Acura batteries are crappy from the get-go...time for a new battery.

 

Hmmm... i'm waiting for the stupid tow truck to take mine to the Dealer...

slower and slower cranking has given way to no cranking. I just pulled another battery outta another car and hooked it to the terminals with jumper cables. still no crank. All the electronics look fine.

Thinking I may have a bad starter or some other electrical gremlin. about a month ago it was doing the slow start thing and I took my battery to oreilly to have it tested. said it held the load fine, but it was only at 31% charge. Something must be drawing juice.

 

Check for a parasitic battery drain! I bet its your starter going out though

 

Well they tried to release it to my wife, claiming loose battery terminal, said they started and restarted it all day long...but I had clamped those suckers on tight...I had even previously added a shim to the +. I'm assuming the car was cold all day in a shady bay. Yesterday it was 20 degrees hotter out ~90F

I had called back during the day to make sure they had checked the alt, and starter before sticking to their loose cable story. I had to go coach at football practice and didn't want my wife to get stuck with a non-fix. They said they had checked it all, and mentioned they would set it out in the sun, or drive it around a bit as I suggested and would keep checking.

She went to pick it up and they gave it back claiming loose cable is what it was.

She got home, noticed they left the tire pressure at 30 some, and was going back to have it set at 44 where we requested, and sure enough.. slow-oww-owww crank.

She took it back, left it there and came home in a loaner. Now mechanic is saying "it must be the starter"

 

sucks cause we just barely broke 52k miles

short commutes and keeping busy all year with kids sports and stuff keeps us local.

 

I had received a recall notice for my 07 RDX back in November regarding the AC clutch. So it might be a common problem.

 

If you do not find something drawing juice, it may be that if you are making many short trips, that the battery is simply not staying charged up. This will over time cause it to sulfate, and shorten the life. My wife makes many short trips, literally 1-2 miles to the grocery, CostCo, excercise class, etc. I have to put the battery on a trickle charger (de-sulfator type) once a week.

 

I had a bad $8 relay that would stay on drawing power causing my battery to run down if it sat more +12 hours. It might been like this for a while because we drive the RDX everyday before the 12 hour run down period was up. Did not notice the problem until I parked the RDX for +12 hours. I will see if I can track down the paperwork from the dealership to see what relay was replaced.

 

well we picked it up today..they had said they were finally able to duplicate the issue late yesterday afternoon and confirmed it to be the starter. Now it starts faster than I recall it ever starting.. Must have been slowly dying for a while.

 

How do you fix the AC clutch? How do you detect a bad relay?

Currently have a slow starting '07 and have had the dead battery issue. Had mechanic check the starter and the battery and he said they were both fine.

 

mine had started slow off and on for a while, killing the battery once before. it was intermittent so the bad starter was hard to detect for what it's worth...

might even have been what caused my stock battery to crap out so early too.

 

It's most likely your Bluetooth module. It causes a parasitic draw when it goes bad. Happened on my 05 tl and 07 Rdx. And also on a friends tl. Simple fix is unplug the power harness going to the Bluetooth module. I believe on the 07 rdx its by the navi hard drive....passenger side knee area (there is a black door...just pry open the door and look for the harness)

It seems that bad Bluetooth modules are common with Acura. Sucks that they cause dead batteries

 

I had battery drain, i changed my bad starter to a used starter and the battery drain went away. Few days now, i noticed the starter is taking a bit longer to kick start the engine, and yesterday the vehicle sat a whole day without use, and the battery is dead again. So i can really bet you, it's the starter going bad.

 

or... something else is draining your battery and then not giving the starter enough juice to start the car

 

 

I have a 2007 RDX Tech. Since the first month I owned the vehicle there have been battery and audio problems. I had three (3) battery replacements in the first year. In the first six months the Premium(!) audio system had to be completely replaced because there was a short somewhere. About two years ago problems started again. Two more batteries. (one I had to pay for) Last time (4 mos ago) the service advisor said it was loosing juice because the Dolby setting was activated. That did the trick till today. Battery extremely weak. Probably going back early this coming week. Thank goodness they give me a complimentary loaner. (I'm beginning to see why people lease.) I guess that i'm shocked that in this day and age a car mechanic has so much trouble with the electrical system.

 

For me it was the BT module. Unhooked it and all is good. I never used it anyway as I prefer a headset.

 

We don't use Bluetooth or have anything "extra" to drain the battery. Our 2016 RDX advance battery died exactly 7 days before its 3rd birthday. It had been slow to crank for about a month, but finally gave out. It had a cheapo battery with a mere 610 CCA. I replaced it with a 750 CCA battery. This is the fastest I've ever had a battery go out of any car I've owned (at age 61).
