Power window died!

I'm a sad RDXer today. My brand new RDX needs service already. I have only had it six weeks! The passenger power window refuses to go down. (no, I don't have the window lock on) If I try pressing the down button (both on drivers side and the one on the passenger door) like a dozen times or more it will then randomly go down! It goes back up just fine, thank goodness, but once up again it just refuses to go back down without pressing the button a zillion times! I can hear a weird clicking noise come from the door when pressing the button. None of the other windows make the clicking noise. What a pain in the neck.

Anyone else experience this with your RDX? Any ideas what it may be?

Yeah, I know. I was just curious if anyone else has experienced this problem. It's ironic too in that my very first Acura (1994 Integra GS-R) it's passenger power window also died shortly after getting the car!

Do you have any kids?

Do they have access to loose change?

Do they put loose change in places it doesn't belong out of curiosity?

Smile Power Window Fixed!

I brought the RDX to the dealer today and the "fix" was incredibly simple! Per the service advisor the RDX has been prone to failing power windows. Each window can be individually reset. While the car is running, from the drivers door window controls press the button of the failed window all the way down and HOLD for at least five seconds. Then up to close the window and HOLD for at least five seconds. Repeat these steps one more time. This "reboots" or resets the windows electronics. It fixed my problem!! :-)

The service advisor said if it fails again try resetting it again. If the problem persists then the window control module on the drivers door is probably bad and would need replacing.

I ultimately had to bring my RDX back to the dealer as the window reset procedure I mentioned above was only a temp fix and the window failed again to the point where it would not move! They simply replaced the window switch and all is well again. I hope it stays that way. It's an annoyance to have to bring a brand new car in for service.

My window miraculously cured itself on the way to the dealer to be looked at...now I wait and hope it doesn't happen again or if it does I hope it happens when the dealer is open to look at it....nightmare

Great thread!

I have a 2002 TLS, and after the battery had been disconnected the auto feature of the driver's side window stopped working in both the up and down directions (otherwise it was fine). I figured that it must have had something to do with the power interruption. Based on this thread, I kept the switch down for 5+ seconds at both ends of the travel, and that fixed it.

similar problem for my sunroof. the sunroof still opened, but the buttons were all messed up...like pushing up for tilt did not work...to tilt had to press close (forward)...to close from tilt had to push open (backward) but needed to stop when it was closed...ie., nothing automatic worked anymore.

anyway, dealer just pressed held both open and close for a few seconds, similar to the above procedure.
