Engine/transmission Warning Message

I've got an 07 RDX TECH, purchased June 2007 in L.A. with about 7000 miles on it.

After refueling this morning w/ 91 octane, got two messages with the same Error Code of U0155. One says it is an engine issue, one says it is a transmission issue. both say acceleration may not work like it should and to go to a dealer to have it checked out. This is my first such message of its kind and first real issue w/ the car.

I made an appointment for tomorrow morning.

Anyone have a clue what's going on here? Anyone experience the same message?

Thanks!!!

well, i just made sure. previously, the green "D" on the dash signifying that i was in Drive was flashing while I was driving (on my way to work). That stopped (just drove around the parking lot at work), but I'm getting the "check emissions system" message on the dash now that stays up there.

thanks again

Hmm. Unfortunately, I'm no expert on these matters, so we'll just have to wait until one comes along. I just wanted to make sure the obvious solution was taken care of. And BTW, it usually takes a couple of days, I think, for the problem with the gas tank to clear if the cap wasn't tightened all the way, so it's not an immediate thing.

cool. thanks for checking in though. i appreciate it. it's supposed to rain cats and dogs the next few days in los angeles. not dying to go to a dealership and deal w/ a loaner/rental in those conditions, but getting a stalled car in the rain wouldn't be fun either. ugh.

Has it been shifting smoothly/correctly? Sounds like with the flashing D the transmission is trying to tell you... something.

You don't have a son named Billy that might have fallen into a well or something do you?

i've had no complaints with its driving/shifting. drove to the rose bowl on jan. 1 and cruised easily in the 80-85 range for much of drive, weaving in and around traffic ... and no, no sons named billy taking nose dives into wells.

Well, I'm going to guess it's a sensor issue of some sort. You might not be able to tell but I'd wager your car has dialed back the performance to some extent because it's not getting reliable feedback from some sensor or other.

ok. do you think putting off getting it checked out for a few days (until, say, the dealer has loaner cars available) is harmful to the car?

It's hard to say without knowing what the real problem is. But, if the car seems to be running fine, I'd probably feel comfortable with it. Certainly your going to want to pay extra attention to it in the meantime. If it starts acting funny I'd probably stop driving it before it decides to leave you stranded somewhere.

Try this, go back to a gas station, fill her up again and this time turn the gas cap 3 or more clicks.

See if it makes the error go away. It could be leak and let in excess moisture.

I had a "check transmission" error message and took it in right away. It turned out to be a sensor in the transmission that was malfunctioning. I would take it in soon, you don't want to mess with transmission/engine problems. They should give you a courtesy car anyways so you won't be too inconvenienced.

I don't think that code has anything to do with the type of gas you are using. I don't have my service manual here with me to look it up.

Here is a list of the top tier gas retailers:

QuikTrip
Chevron
Conoco
Phillips
76
Shell
Entec Stations
MFA Oil Company
Kwik Trip/Kwik Star
The Somerset Refinery, Inc.
Chevron-Canada
Aloha Petroleum
Tri-Par Oil Company
Shell-Canada
Texaco
Petro-Canada
Sunoco-Canada

Thx for this link. Another reason for me to not use Exxon.

The flashing "D" display means the transmission Power Control Module has recorded a Diagnostic Trouble Code. This is independant of the "check emissions system" message, but the two warnings could be generated by the same fault.

Since the "D" stopped flashing, it may have been a transient condition, but the transmission DTC is recorded and should be checked. The dealer can down load the DTC, and clear it, to see if it re-occurs.

Good luck, and let us know.

Hi...today I had a transmission code pop up and the car is driving fine. I have an appointment first thing in the morning but can you tell me if your sensor was covered under the transmission warranty or if not was it very expensive?

Well I had the 3rd gear transmission pressure switch replaced today for a whopping 410.00 plus another 100 to flush the transmission fluid? :::shaking head::: ouch!!
