Check Engine Light - Code P1717

Went to back the car out this morning and noticed the Check Engine Light came on. The D started blinking on the dash. Turned the car off and turned it back on and the D no longer blinked. The CEL stayed on.

She shifted and ran fine with no issues. I then took her to Pep Boys to pull the code and clear it. Here's the code:
P1717 Manufacturer Control Transmission

No issues since then and the CEL did not come on again.

I Googled the code and didn't find anything useful so I thought I'd post this in case anybody else tries running a search. From what I've read, it could have been caused by an issue with the shift lever. I also read that it's an electronic issue, not a mechanical issue. I'm assuming that it's because the shift lever was between gears when I was reversing/forwarding to maneuver out the driveway. I'll follow up if anything.

She does have 141k miles, and yes my gas cap is on tight
