Can't remove key
08 Tech - I have 2 issues going on.
1. Wife came home from work yesterday and could not turn the car off and remove the key. It would stop just short. I could turn the steering wheel back and forth with effort (no power steering) but could not get the key to the off position to remove it. Ended up disconnecting negative battery cable since the car was still in "on" position as I didn't want to run the battery down. Surprisingly the key could then be turned off and removed. Decided to put battery on trickle charger overnight just to be sure battery was not an issue. Came out in the morning and connected battery and started car. Voila, was able to turn off and take key out with no issues. I took the car for a short drive (about 15 min). When I got home the key issue was back and not able to turn the car off and remove the key unless I disconnect negative battery cable. Any ideas what is causing this and how to fix it?
2. When I started the car after sitting overnight on the trickle charger the radio/nav unit needed a 4 digit PIN, which I entered. Navi was then unlocked and able to be used, however, there was no prompt for the radio code and the radio would not turn on. Pressed the power button several times and nothing. The Anti-theft light for the radio was flashing. i know this is connected to disconnecting the battery but I can't figure out how to get the radio code input box to show. Any ideas?

It happened to me a few years ago... Pretty common on 1G RDX's...
Your ignition has gone bad internally... Sometimes you can get the key back out, sometimes, it needs to be cut out.
In my case, the dealer got it out. Installed a new ignition, and had the ignition cut to match the key.
It's a total PITA that this happens, but that's what it is!

I am having the same issue. Got car detailed. Apparently alarm went off at some point when it was at the detail shop and thats when the issue started. I went to pick up the car and detail shop showed me that you can only remove the key when negative battery terminal is disconnected. To start the car have to reconnect the battery and then its starts fine. Turn it off and get the remove key prompt on the dash but it wont come out until I disconnect the battery again.. wondering if the alarm had anything to do with it?

Maybe the immobilizer failed... I assume it's like an electro magnet...
I'd just take it in to a dealer or locksmith...
When it comes to replacement of ignition parts it gets tricky without the ability to cut and program keys yourself...
But if you find a way that works better for you, by all means, go for it!
