Battery drains after having key on.

I just purchased a '08 Tl with 60k miles on it. I was setting up the HFL for my phone and setting up the radio presets and the battery just went dead. I jumped it with no problem, drove it and it seemed fine. I had the key in the "On" position the whole time, after a few minutes of setting up the HFL I start to hear a buzzing or ticking noise coming from the engine bay, I try and start the car and it will no longer turn over and the gauges and radio display start flickering. I seems as if the battery dies only after a few minutes of having the key in the on position. The battery is the original OEM that came new with the car. I am hoping this isn't some electrical problem. Is there any reason why the battery would drain only a few minutes after having the key in the on position? The buzzing and ticking sound coming from the engine bay concerns me.

BTW, I tried just listening to the radio in the I position as well and the battery also drained in 5 min to the point where the engine would not turn over.

Ya, the battery in mine also drains quickly, try reading it with a voltameter, and see if its being charged properly.

Battery was the issue, when I had the car inspected the dealership told me it was fine, but a new battery solved the issues.

I had the same problem with the factory battery when the car was a year old. Replaced it with an Optima and it was better but over a few years it got to where it would be dead in 5 minutes with the key on. I bought the Sears Diehard Platinum AGM battery and I've accidentally left the stereo going for over an hour and it started as if it had never been left on.
