brake noise

My 2007 RDX makes a scraping metalic noise, I think from the rear right brakes. It sounds like the audible brake wear indicator in most vehicles. It sounds when I cruise at 35mph or higher, and even more when I hit the brakes. Braking is still very good. I now have 70M.
I had new front brakes a year ago, and never replaced the rear. I looked and it seems like 9mm left in the front pads, and 5mm in the back pads. No scratches visible on the disks.
Yesterday I had the B1 service at the dealer, and all is fine in the inspection, including CV boots, etc.
What could it be?

I had a similar issue on my 2010 accord. In most cases its the inner rear pad rubbing the disk due to sticking hardware or overextended piston. This, in some cases is caused by the E-Brake.

.If pistons are sticking, then new calipers may be needed, and if hardware is sticking, then usually they can be cleaned, wire brushed and lubricated to solve the problem.

So I guess this means, either way, the pad on the inside has gotten worn unevenly down to the wear indicator, so it has around 2-3mm of pad left before it touches the inner side of the disk.
Correct?

Inner and outer pads often wear unevenly and of course, you can't see the inner pad without removing the wheel.

I would recommend that you have them clean up your calipers and regrease your guide pins.

Also, if you have not had the brake fluid flushed, this should be done. Brake fluid absorbs water (causing corrosion) and should be fully exchanged every 2 to 3 years.

You may very well need calipers.

Honda calipers are junk, especially the rear, replaced hundreds on Accords. They constantly fail and lock up.

When they do freeze up, they tend to cook the inside pad, causing it to glaze over and crack. This can be heard as an audible brake noise that may sound like a rubbing, squeak, or squeal.

What type of calipers do you recommend on the RDX and are they easy to install yourself?

Thanks.
