Backup lights/backup camera always on!
Hi everybody! I have a 2007 RDX and left my sunroof cracked and it rained all of a sudden, getting the interior of my car all wet (mainly near the gear shifter area)!! And now my backup lights stay on all the time. Even when the keys aren't even in the ignition. When I drive, the backup camera stays on all the time as well... Does anybody know why this is happening?? I checked the fuses and nothing is wrong! Any help would be great! I unplugged the car from the battery so the battery won't be draining.

not an SUV ...a Big Hatch
sound/nav switching hardware down there must have gotten wet...
That's where my iPod adapter sits. I believe there's some kind of electronics down there, I just hesitate to claim to be sure which.

Null and proud of it
I'm so glad I finally found a thread on this, and that I finally have proof of this!!!
Reverse lights didn't get stuck on this time, but just like OP, they usually do... This will happen once a month of so... It rained heavily overnight yesterday... It did fine on a 90 minute drive, but during the afternoon, 6-8+ hrs. after the heavy rain, it goes and pulls this on me...
When filling up the gas tank, it magically came back on... Stopping/restarting did nothing, nor did eating sonewhere with car parked for an hour...
I have tons of other problems too... Like about 9 months ago, the windows stayed in courtesy mode for a few hours one night, without and with the doors locked and armed via keyfob...
Shortly after, the courtesy window feature, which keeps the windows powered, completly quit and now, the key has to be in the ON position for the winds to work at all... My TL did this for 5 minutes one night, but fixed itself!!! Another TL owner I know of said the same thing in an old thread from years ago, if memory serves me right!!!

Mine did it once years ago but it never happened again after that one time. But it was weird driving with the rear camera on. After I turned it off and back on it was good it must have been reset.

2015 Acura RDX camera replacement
The backup camera is expensive from $150 to $200 online. I found this camera on ebay which had a slightly different serial number on it but looked identical to the part and made for a Honda. It ended up working perfectly. It was only $28 and fairly easy to install in about 15 minutes. You just have to remove the small square panel on the inside of the trunk, un latch the black plastic molded part that's surrounding the camera on the outside(just enough in the center so you can slip the camera out on the edge) and pull out the camera after disconnecting it on the inside panel. It worked great on my 2015 Acura RDX after condensation got underneath the lense and it was blurry. It's back to new again. I thought about buying another just in case this one ends up with the same issue again down the road. For $28 why not!

It is crazy how much that little plastic $3 lens costs! Luckily I found the issue was just that it had somehow unplugged itself. I just reconnected it in the liftgate connection and poof it worked!

I started expirecing this issue sunday morning, i have disconnected the battery for a couple hours. To reset the system. This did not work, The nav screen came on for a couple seconds Tuesday morning n then went away. Earlier tonight the nav screen came on while merging into the hwy turning my steering wheel slightly to the right. Its really weird.

I had to disconnect my backup lights, they remain on even after the car was completly off. There must be a relay somewhere thats stuck. In terms of wiring i understand its all stationary i cant really see wiring corroding but u never know. Diagnosing electrical problems are pita.

This happens to me too... Usually after a lot of rain... Maybe the range sensor... My OBD is throwing a code on mine, occasionally...

We got 10-15 centimeters of snow today, Happy to report the maps came back, it glitch once or twice. I tested the functionality several times working as intented. I'm not happy though because the root of the problem as not been dealt with. The potential for the device to malfunction again is present. Therefore is likely to happen again. If anyone is able to determine which relay is the culprit, Please share your findings.

Perhaps unrelated, both my upper center dome lights n rear dome light do not work. The programmable garage buttons do not work either. This all happen after my alarm was trigger some time ago, fuses are ok! Within the same front upper console theres 2 blue courtesy lights and those appear to work fine. Its just very strange, the wiring of the interior lights are something else. The door puddle lights are not wired on the same circuit with the upper dome lights n yet they are trigger by the same door switch.

The fuses are good so did you try to change the bulbs? Check the switch too to make sure it’s in the proper position, as well as the sensors in the doors.

I was trouble shooting the problems i am having with the rear camera image showing on the navi screen regardless of the car is in DRIVE, PARK, NEUTRAL OR REVERSE. I have discovered that if the tailgate is in the OPEN position. It would go back to normal operation. Which is allow me to press the OK at the screen start up. Any ideas what is going or how to fix this.?
