Another oil leak, whoopee

Oh what fun fixing all these oil leaks is.

In the past couple months I've replaced:

-VTC strainer gasket
-VTEC spool valve gasket
-Crankshaft pulley gasket
-Tensioner inspection window cover (new part resealed w/ Hondabond)

After doing all these I washed the engine bay with degreaser and it was sparking clean.

Yesterday during a routine oil change, the side of my engine looked like this. Seems like it's time to change out that oil pressure switch. 5th time's the charm?? At least it looks like an easy job.

Oil leak

I'm at 172K on my southern car 07 tech. I recently changed oil installing a Fram ultrasynthetic for the first time. May be just coincidence but it suddenly started weeping all over. I'm a classically trained hooptie tech certified only on things I own. I am also occassionally temporarily retarded but I'm suspecting something about that filter is upsetting my car. It has always been dry, except that time it decided to initiate it's own power steering flush last year.

Any chance you also changed something to make yours start leaking all over?

Not recently - it's been leaking for a bit and I've slowly and finally gotten around to patching the spots I think it's leaking from.

Forgot to mention I also replaced the valve cover gasket when I did my 200k valve adjustment. All oil seals have been OEM except the valve cover which was Fel-pro.

BUT it's really interesting that you posted this: I had been using STP 7317XL filters from Autozone, but just this week ordered a bunch of Fram XG ultra filters from rock auto. I would never have thunk Fram's higher end line would cause a problem. They are the OE supplier for Honda (their lower end filter tho not the XG).

Is your leak coming from the filter or filter housing, or somewhere else?

Wix and Mobil 1 are also good alternatives if our RDX doesn't like Fram filters for whatever reason.
