2008 blown turbo
2008 blown turbo
hi . i'm new to site. i have 2008 rdx. 98,000. we bought it new. i got the cel and took it to dealer. they are telling me it has a blown turbo. it was driven hard at all. the car runs great. how could this be happening?
Can happen with any component on your vehicle. This was very common in the past and (anyone who has owned an Mercury XR4Ti will tell you a sob-story) will continue to be an issue. There are some people who "hammer" their vehicles (MMMike) everytime they drive. The end result is something will break over time.
You can't drive a car like a member of the Andretti family and expect it to live to 100,000K (or 10,000K for that matter).
Plan on spending $6,500 at the dealer.

Looking over your post again, perhaps you accidentally excluded the word "not." Or was this a Freudian slip?

^was there any work performed prior to this code popping up?
if the car drives normally, then sure, its safe to drive.
if the car isnt behaving like it should, something is wrong.
Like, you...ive been reading the other threads concerning this code...
there doesnt seem like a general consensus on what is wrong.
if the car drives normally and the turbo is spooling providing boost, then no it is not blown.

It could be as simple as a clogged engine air filter. It is also possible that other service work has caused a turbo circulation leak. Have you had any work done lately? The greatest likelyhood is simply a leaking air hose.
The troubleshooting for P2263 goes basically like this:
A clogged engine air filter can trigger this code. That is the first thing to check.
Then check all turbocharger hoses for leaks and security, in particular the hoses to the bypass control solenoid valve.
Then check the bypass control solenoid valve for proper functioning.
thank's to all you guys for info. no work has been done except for serpinetine belt. i will check air filter. how do you find the maf for cleaning? and is it hard to change the spark plugs? i'm working on 3x tranny fluid change. is there a link to the mass air flow cleansing?
