2008 acura onboard computer not ready to be tested
Hi, i'm having a problem that has stumped several seasoned Acura techs. I went to have my 2008 Acura rdx, inspected and it said that monitor catalyst, monitor evap and monitor oz not ready to be tested. I thought this was because a starter had been replaced more than a month before the test. I then drove more than 1000 miles and had the car retested and still the monitor evap and cat was not ready to be tested. I went to Acura and the tech said he had cleared the two monitors but went to have the car tested all three monitors were again not ready. I guess he just cleared the computer setting me back further. I was then given an exact procedure to follow which i did to a T with not results. Has anyone had this problem or knows of a fix? Should i drive to CA. and back?

Hard to believe not all of the readiness checks weren't cleared after that much driving, unless something has been specifically disabled (say, via custom tuning). You can connect a bluetooth OBD reader and use the Torque app, and it'll show you exactly which readiness checks aren't clear. Usually EVAP is the last one to go - most will update after a single drive cycle but EVAP has some specific requirements.
The last owner was a kid, so that may be a possibly, but i believe we had the car tested once before and it passed. I have unplugged the bluetooth as it did the battery drain thing. Could that be a problem? I can get a regular obd tester will that work? I don't know anything about bluetooth but i can ask my son. Thanks scott
If the previous owner did something like say, turn off the check for a cat because they wanted to run with no cat, the emissions check will *never* show ready. Hopefully that isn't the case, but if so the quickest / cheapest fix might be replacement of the ECU (unless you still have contact with the previous owner).
