Oil catch cans?
Oil catch cans?
I have been told an oil catch can is a wise investment on boosted vehicles. does anybody here on the forum have one? I am thinking I could use it cause either this thing is pig rich or I have a blowby issue.
it could benefit from it.. on my tsx i have one between the intake manifold tube and head and i empty it every oil change.. the oil in the engines is recycled back threw there in the valves which can cause build up on the valves in time.. someone else on the forum put one on there RDX forget who.. but i say go for it..
Yea I don't see a lot of space to throw this in. I took my TMIC off to clean and inspect the plugs and looked into the intake tube off the turbo and there was a film of oil but the plugs don't look like the car has been belching oil into the cylinders but this does worry me. also looks like a breather tube is leaking oil onto the cylinder head. helpful to have a catch can with this happening?

I use one on my Jeep haven't had the time to make one for my RDX yet but here is a pic of how well it works. The crap in the tub is oil and water mix. The catch can keeps this out of my intake system. And it ruins the inside of an intercooler fyi. The film inhibits heat transfer.
Any turbocharged car will benifit from a catch can, especially a stock one. I've owned many srt4's and it's a huge difference between catch can or no catch can. With catch can your intake, turbo, intercooler, pressure hoses and intake manifold stay dry as compared to oil in all of those without a catch can.
