Gauging interest in Downpipe.....
Hello fellow RDX owners.... My name is Roberto, I live in PR and like you have been searching around for a downpipe for our RDX's. I know that there are a few people who have nade them but they have made them for their cars and have not had the chance to make more of them. Im doing my Downpipe and was wondering if any of you are interested in also getting one of these for your RDX. It will be made by a reputable shop in PR which specializes in custom turbo kits for cars and motorcycles(the have a few sick Hayabusas and Harley's with turbo and NOS...sick sick sick) Their work is great and are very responsible. I dont have the price of the downpipe because he has given me the total price plus intallation(expensive) for my car. The good thing is that the down time will be much less for you than for me. dont have any pictures of anything because we have not started to work yet on my car. What I was looking for is to know how many people are interested in getting a downpipe for your car. Please let me know so that I can talk to the guy to see if he can make a few of them so that you can take advantage also of this.
Roberto

Roberto, I am sure that quite a few guys would be intrested, I for one.
What you should do is to make sure that the shop follows what the other guy "Pang_Co" did because he is the only one that has done it successfully so far. The mechanical O2 fix is important!
"Spark plug foulers were use in addition to the extended o2 bung. The foulers by themselves aren't enough with how upstream the 2nd o2 is on the downpipe."
"What in heavens name are spark plug foulers and how do they work and what do they do?"
"Basically positions the secondary o2 sensor out of the exhaust stream and shields it enough to fool the ecu in thinking the cat is there and functioning so it won't trip the check engine light.

ok. Ill be talking to him on wednesday and will be showing him the pics on the downpipe "Pang_Co" did. I know about the spark plug fowlers and the extention of the o2 bung as these have been done on other cars. One thing, this is going to take some time because the removal is going to be a real pain in the butt and the downtime will be like 3 or 4 days. Ill let you know how it goes but the complete piece plus installation($$$$) is going to be expensive and most of it being from the installation. Ill keep you updated....

Thats ok Rob, we've all been waiting on one of these for over a year now so a couple more weeks wont hurt :-)
Removal is done from the top and not underneath. Like pang said just remove the intercooler and do it from that end! ;-)
Good luck!

I've also ordered downpipe+midpipe from our local tuning shop (almost the same story that Roberto told us). They quoted ~400$ in approx three weeks.
The main issue may be the CHECK ENGINE light. Here's Pang solution:
You may also use an electronic patch solution. I'll try to translate & illustrate it if necessary.
Here's the teaser

Spark plug foulers were used in addition to the extended o2 bung. The foulers by themselves aren't enough with how upstream the 2nd o2 is on the downpipe. o2 bung welded to a piece of tube to space the sensor out of the exhaust stream.

It will work really well, as long as you do not have the ECU flashed!!
If you already have the Church exhaust (or any other exhaust for that matter) + the flashed ECU, and then add the DownPipe, your fuel mixture will become TOO LEAN and engine damage may occur!
Please note that there is no Hondata flash available that will accomodate an aftermarket downPipe!
So, any exhaust modification, and combination of exhaust mods, will work fine!
Any CAT BACK exhaust system + ecu flash will work fine!
Any combination above with any available air intake system added will work fine!
Hope that clears it up for ya!

Probably in the region of about 3hr work. You do it from the top i.e. remove the intercooler to get to the turbo and work from the top. Putting the car on jack-stands so that you can loosen the exhaust from the underside. The exhaust is installed from above because the sub frame is in the way!

I have been in contact with Micheal from ATLP because I bought the catback from them, he's keeping me updated, it's already done, I will be ordering one from him soon to test it out.
