Question about bluetooth and phones
Question about bluetooth and phones
Per my other post I just left I test drove an RDX Tech today. My wife thought of a good question after we left the dealership.
I have a Blackberry and she has the iPhone. Both are bluetooth capable but if we're both in the car on a trip how does the car know which phone to sync too or does it just sync to both?
If I'm driving and her phone rings will the bluetooth pick it up or only mine cause I'm driving?
Any info greatly appreciated.

The RDX can link up to 6 phones, but only one phone can be linked at a time. There is a voice command "next phone" that will cycle through up to 6 phones to link to the next phone in the vehicle. If the phone that is not currently linked (even though it is on the list of 6 phones that could be linked), you have to answer it manually.
Thus, it is smart for the driver's phone to be linked so that they may drive and not fumble with a phone.

The priority is that it will try to link with the last phone with which it was linked. If that phone is not available, I believe it goes to the next to the last phone with which it was linked, and so on.
I carry two cell phones (well, actually an iPhone and another device that pretends to be a cell phone) and this has been my experience. There may be another protocol having to do with the order in which they were set up initially, but I have not found evidence of that.

I always thought the phone priority was determined by the order in which the phones were entered into the system. If you hit the HFL button and say "phone setup" and then "list" it will give you the order. I thought I read this somewhere like on the HFL site, but can't find it right now.
