Navigation System Removal

I've searched around and haven't found the answer so I was hoping that someone who has been through this can help.

I've been receiving the error code through the navigation system and I need to remove the unit to send back to Alpine. From what I have found on other Acura models, the nav unit mounts with 4 small bolts. Does any one know the best way to remove the system? Do I have to remove the passenger seat to remove the cover over the nav system? The DVD disc slot is not large enough to see the mounting bolts.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

hey there - I'm in the process of the doing the exact same thing.

Here are scans of the interior trim/panels that need to be taken out, post #16, which will expose the navigation unit for you to pull out (four bolts I'm assuming as well haha):

I'm guessing you think the nav unit is in the trunk? In the RDX, it's in the center console...

Thanks for the help. I need to pick up a service manual.

I'll give it a shot this weekend. I was hoping not to remove the front seats so we'll see how it goes.

The non working GPS has been driving me nuts. It's time to get this thing fixed!

Do not remove the seats -- just run them to the rear.

The console side panels unclip, but watch for the screw on the top and pushpin at the front of the left side panel. Both side panels hook at the rear.

To add to the excellent help from littleblazer and slden, here's a wider view of the open console:

Thanks for all the help guys. I finally got back to this thread and I was able to get the unit out thanks to your help. I really appreciate it!

Now it's time to ship the unit off to Alpine for repairs. I'll be sure to post an update once everything is resolved.

My 07 RDX navigation system just dead and I want to remove it by following the instructions posted here, but I have problem removing the side panels. Can anyone tell me how many clips are there? Is there any hidden screws? What is the best method to remove the panel?
