Is any Alarm system included with the RDX Tech?

I was too busy playing with other stuffs when I test drove the RDX. Now, I just remember the alarm system may not be included. I am expected to pick up my car within a week.

Does anyone know how much is the basic alarm system cost (regular alarm in which it will sound when someone knock on the car hard etc) at the dealers? Or do I better off doing the alarm somewhere else? Thanks for your insight.

All Acuras come with a basic alarm system. The thing I've always loved about it is that it virtually never false alarms.

I personally think it is smarter to stay with the Acura system then let Circuit City or some other vendor tap into your expensive vehicle's electric system.

well all acuras come with a active alarm... which only arms IF u LOCK the doors... and when u do arm it... then if someone breaks in , the horn and lights will go off... now the dealers offer a passive alarm... i got it put on my tsx at the dealer... for about 650.... biggest piece of crap made... the siren is LOW... only if u punch the car hard enough to dent it, then it will give u a warning beep... i say with 650 u can get a nice nice remote start with a nice alarm system AT a NICE n PROFESSIONAL place... not circuit city... good luck

If, by passive alarm, you mean something that arms itself automatically after the doors are shut, who cares? Why would you want the arm the alarm without first locking the doors?

And, as for this additional alarm, is it a standard Acura part (which, I think, are sourced from Alpine)? It sounds like something that this individual dealer sells. I have an TSX and I believe that the only security system option was a pin for the hood of the car (or something of that nature). This is not a Acura part (which are basically optimized for the car) and it is not surprising that is is not very good.

Thanks all. I guess I will stay with the basic alarm that came with Acura then.

$650 for install a passive alarm where the horn will go off ONLY after heavy punching definitely is not good!

by passive alarm, i mean, yes the doors will arm if i forgot to lock it, but theres more to it... if theres thunder, ricers driving by, or a minor tap on the car, its supposed to give off a warning... and anything more then that, the siren will go off....

my point is... that i got this installed from acura thinking it would be better since is "factory" installed... but im tellin tris that i made the wrong choice... it was a rip off for the biggest piece of shyt ive ever seen...

well, i meant that the passive alarm acura installed for me sucked.. if u go somewhere else, im sure u can get something better... and cheaper... and if ur worried about hauling around 2 remotes, find a professional place that knows how to wire it into ur OEm remote... if the retarded dealers can do it... any alarm place would have 100% capibility to do it also....

im getting a remote start for my car, so i will unfortunitly i will have 2 remotes, but i dont care anymore haha

Your alarm was installed by an Acura dealer, but it is not an Acura product. To the best of my knowledge, Acura does not sell a suplemental alarm system of any kind.

Acura/Honda's alarms typically rely on glass breakage sensors. Those sort of sensors are resistant to false alarms. It sounds like you have an aftermarket alarm that arms passively and also includes a shock sensor. I avoid those alarms like the plague because they false alarm so much that they become more bother than they are worth.

Do youself a favor. Stick with the basic Acura alarm. It is trouble free, and does the job. I live in LA, the coutry's capitol of theft and vandalism against cars. 15 years of driving Honda vehicles with Honda alarms, and not one single problem.

i had an aftermarket alarm installed on my legacy a while ago with the 2 way transmitter that would notify me if and when the alarm has or is going off, which panel was triggered. it also notifies me if it went off, and what panel. additionally, i can remote start it beyond visual range, and it would tell me if the car received the signal and is started.

i contemplated getting one for the rdx, but granted i have a garage now, it's kind of a moot point.

The point is that your add-on alarm was something that your particulr dealer sold you, not an Acura product. If the original poster went to his dealer and asked, he would not be offered the same system. I'm even suprised that this happened, because Acura/Honda dealers will rarely install non-OEM parts.

I haven't had a dealer yet not offer me non-OEM parts or, as in the case of the RDX that I just bought, a non-Acura extended warranty. I'm willing to bet that even though the price is lower, the dealer markup is higher.

Free shock sensing add-on from dealer

I negotiated with the dealer to throw in shock sensing feature for free with my RDX purchase. This delays and hopefully will scratch my plan to upgrade the car alarm like I did with previous cars.

I agree that getting aftermarket alarm is much cheaper for more features. Same goes for wheels.

im also contemplating a remote start/alarm for my RDX. im thinking about the Viper system. i talked to a alarm company here and they said that they wont touch the factory system becuse its built into the car. so there will be 2 alarm systems if i installed the aftermarket one. how would this work?
