$77 XM Satellite Deal

I think that is a great idea, and I hope the suits at SXM HQ are considering it. Of course they might have to throw TONS of commercials, both to keep revenue up and to annoy listeners just enough that they're swayed into paying for the premium, commercial-free package.

Has anyone had experience with signing up for a year of XM service and then canceling before the year is up? Does XM credit the prorated amount back to your card?
My subscription expires soon, and I'd like to continue (at $77 of course), but my lease is up in December so I only want to renew if I'll get a credit for unused months.
thanks

So in case anyone is interested, I got sick of fighting every year for the $77, and I wanted to take advantage of the offer to keep free XMRO - so I bought a 3 year plan. Unfortunately, the weenies at XM reset my subscription date to the day I signed on for 3 years, and credited me for the remaining time on this year's $77 deal (would have expired in Nov 09)....so that sucks. On one place (very small) it says they will do this - but on check out, it clearly said that it wouldn't take effect until my current subscr expires. Not sure whether it's worth fighting or not...it would have saved me about $27.

The $77 dollar deal still works. I called on Tuesday to renew my service--told the foreigner that I was speaking with that I wasn't interested in renewing my subscription because the price was too high for the amount that I use it. She transferred me to the cancellation department, where they offered me a 5 month deal for $20, or the 1 year for $77. I couldn't get nav traffic with the 5 month deal. So, I settled for the $77 dollar, and then 1/2 price for the traffic.

locked in for the third time today
Yup! I locked in for the third time @ $77. Still works guys even after the price hike march 11. I called to cancel, then they took my information and offered me 5 months at $19.95 or 6 months at regular price $12.85 or whatever with 6 months free. All is well as long as they don't go belly up huh?

Yeah. Worked for the 3rd time for me too. This was the hardest renewal by far. Had to get past the tier one guy to get to the cancelation guy. Went around with him for a while until he asked what he can do to keep me as a customer. Told him to give me the $77 deal that I'd been asking for the whole time and he magically got authorization to give me that deal. Wow! What luck!

XM for $77.00
I just renewed this morning. I said I wanted to renew my subscription for $77.00. They said that I was already on this promotion and could not renew at this price, she would renew my subscription for $12.00 /month. I told her to cancel the subscription. I then got transfered to another person and they gave me the $77.00 deal.

I've renewed twice for $77 now with no trouble. Each time, I just tell the first person "I want to cancel because XM is too expensive". They transfer me to the cancellation department, who immediately offers me the $77 deal.

During 90 day trial, received two letters to purchase 1 yr service @129. With two days to go on trial, called XM; told them my dealer said I could get 1 yr for $77. They said OK and took CC info. Must have worked, since service is still active a week later. Messed up and didn't ask for th $12 off for giving a CC.

Re: $77 XM Satellite Deal
My trial period expired in December 2008.
The $77 deal still works!
$77 + $47.88 (for Traffic Nav) - $12.95 = $111.93 (no taxes) for paying by CC. I followed the script word-for-word.
Thanks for posting this information about this great deal.

Just renewed at $77 for the 3rd year. Just called and said I wanted to cancel, that it was too expensive. They asked me how much I paid. I told them that I used to pay $77 per year but they were now going to charge me more. Was a little concerned because I never got transferred to the cancellation department, but she said, "Would you like the $77 deal again?" I said sure. And she also gave me a month free.

Still getting my free corporate deal...even though I have not worked at the place I got it for six months. No traffic, but it was pretty useless in DFW anyway.

I just renewed for $77/year again. They added on some extra $10/year music royalty fee, which is new this year. I complained about that and the rep said she couldn't cancel it, but she could give me 1 money of service for free instead, so my total came up to around $80.
