Just signed up for the $77/year deal. I first tried to do it on my existing subscription on my older car, however they said they cannot do it, so I asked them to cancel the subscription and the lady said "just this one time" and gave me the deal. Then I said I need the deal for my new Acura RDX and she refused. So I hung up and call them again and this time someone else gave me the deal on the new Acura radio. However got shot down for the $2 traffic deal ... they were only offering the $3.99 deal (funny thing is they say I never have traffic activated in my car ... however I do see the traffic data), so I am going to leave it alone. My Blackberry displays excellent real-time traffic data through Google Maps.

a little late, but I also got the $77 deal when i called in January. There was no negotiation with the navtraffic, so the total was $125. I never tried the "script", I just said I am about to end my free trial and I want to renew with the promotion. There was no problem.

Ditto over here. Got the $77 promotion today.

I think the big key is to make sure the words "or I'll cancel" is in your vocabulary as you're speaking with the person. I also had to get to a secondary customer service rep before they had the authorization to re-up me with that promotion.

$77 deal still active

Got the $77 deal for xm and the $4 deal for nav today. My free trial doesn't expire until 3/20 so you don't have to wait until your service expires to take advantage of this offer.

I got half price on both XM and traffic. $77 + $24 = $101/year.
Maybe it just depends which CSR you get on the phone.

I don't know how you got 1/2 on traffic! I tried and tried with the CSR, and she wasn't budging! So I got the $77 dollar deal, plus the 48 for traffic.

Thread is still good!

Heck, I got the $77 deal for the 2nd year around.
I called XM to cancel my subscrip. b/c my wife's CC had changed & they couldn't keep my account going w/o having a CC to charge to. (She bought it for my B-day gift!) Well, it worked out, b/c I told them I wanted to cancel, b/c I wasn't going to pay $152.50 for one yr. to listen to XM in my vehicle, as little as I'm in it! They said they had a 25% off deal going & it would be 119.75 (?) I thnk, but I said no to that also. They transfered me to another number to go through the closing of my account & when the guy asked me why I was closing it, I told him about price. He asked if I'd keep it for the $77 special price for another yr., & I said sure. So it was great on my Albuquerque trip last week. Glad I had it!!

Just got off the phone with XM and the half price deal for 1 year is still good. I had to transfer to another department to get the deal started.

I just signed up for the second time for $77, that part is easy.
I tried for the $24 traffic and that was harder. I told the CSR; "look, my pal John just got traffic for $24, I'd like the same thing...I know it's not impossible...how hard can it be, you just gave half off the music service....etc etc?" She put me on hold multiple times and finally told me that she saw the half off Acura deal listed, but saw nothing for traffic and I'd have to call the "promotions department" and find out more information.
I gave up after 15 miutes and paid the extra $24 for traffic.
Music $77, Traffic $48 per year.

This was my script (approximately):

Me: I want to cancel my XM.
CSR 1: Can I ask why?
Me: It is too expensive for what I get.
CSR 1: Let me transfer you to the cancellation department.
Me (to CSR 2): I want to cancel my XM because it is too expensive.
CSR 2: If I cut the price in half, will you renew for another year?
Me: Is that half price on both the radio and nav traffic?
CSR 2: I can do that.
Me: OK.

The bill came to $77 + $24 = $101 total.

Unhappy

just tried right now. $77 deal is easy to get. I could NOT get the lady to give me half off on the traffic. I said no and hung up. I'll try again in a few days.

I'd like to know if someone has as well. I want to add a subscription when my free trial is up but I can't justify over $100 considering how little use I get.

Same idea for me. Also, I'm never really satisfied with staying on the same channel for any period of time. You get the odd 3-4 straight songs that I find good and then a couple awful ones. I hate constantly flipping through as well. However, for 77$/year, I'd go for it since it DOES have some good music we don't hear often elsewhere.

Where are you located?

I received a call from XM Radio Canada and their offer to me was a $30 discount off of the annual rate of $168 and change plus tax. So for the wonderful price of $138 and change plus tax I can renew/extend my service for 12 months.

When I informed the representative that I did not want that "deal", he informed me that he could add another 3 months to our 3 month trial for $14.97. Not exactly the reaction I was looking for.

I got a call from XM Radio Canada as well a few days ago. They offered me eighty something bucks for 12 months but I said no. Then he told me about the 3 month plan for $15 which I took.

For those in Canada when did you get a call to renew your subscription? We picked our rdx up in December and the XM was already activated by the dealer. We have not seen any charges to date from XM and was wondering if they contacted you as soon as your 3 month trial period was over?

We picked up our car on April 30 with the XM trial subscription activated. We got a call from XM Canada at week # 3 with the offer I wrote about above, and I received a letter from XM Canada basically restating the pricing the representative on the phone gave me.

I'm still looking to try and find a way to jump on this $77 renewal for a year thing that our friends south of the 48th parallel can get because the $186.33 for a 1-Year renewal they're offering me right now is just too steep for me considering the little use I get from it.

I'm in the same boat... still working after 5 1/2 months and no bills or anything.. no contact with any XM rep either. Maybe somehow I got activated on a 6 month trial.. I'll see as our 6th month is coming around next week.

called today because i was due to renew 6/21/08...so the $77 deal was easy, the second CSR kept saying i am unable to offer the navtraffic discount...they know about it but would not give it? not sure why. so i cancelled for now. we'll see if/when i get a new CSR what the deal would be. maybe i'll put more pressure on the "my buddy got it for half off" anyone else cancel then call back and get it?

I got a call from XM radio Canada, about 1 month before my trial was going to end. When I said I didn't want to renew because it was too expensive they offered me 1 year for $99. Not quite the $77 that the Americans are getting but its still better than the full price. I told him I wanted to think about it, so he put me on the 3 months for $15 for now and noted the offer on my account

I just got $77/year, thanks to this forum. I didn't try on the NavTraffic since I find it largely valueless, since the Philly bridges and southern NJ highways that I travel daily are not on it.

Based on this thread I find it amazing that I haven't received a call from XM yet to renew my service. My service expired on July 1. I did receive two pieces of DM but it was for the usual high price. If I was to call them up and say I got something in the mail for a discount of $77 would that be good enough?

All of these conversations seem to occur when they call you. Does the same apply if you call them?

Check your credit card statement. They may have billed you for renewal at the higher price without calling you.

Thanks for the heads up Johnny I will. My service ran out and I was getting nothing so I doubt they automatically renewed it because I would have gotten service right? I'll check either way.

Trial period up

My 3 month trial period ended about two weeks ago but still is on. Wondering if I can still get the $77/$24 deal considering the merger with Sirus???
