Windshield Stone Damage

Well I have 5100 miles on my 2008 RDX No Tech Package. I like the car very much
Has anyone else had problems with stones hitting the front windshield? I got nailed with one on the highway the other day at ~ 75MPH. Damn thing cracked the windshield about the size of a dime! At least it was the passenger side.
But I noticed that the windshield seems to get a lot of chips from Highway. Mine seems like a magnet

Anybody else? And is the Dealer the best place to get it repaired?

my dealer at point of purchase included dent/ding/windshield coverage

10300 miles plus and nothing visible on windsheild.. maybe NYC pigeon bombs lol.

Damn.. that sucks.. it happens though..

Hmm.. I don't recall my dealer mentioning anything about dings/dents or cracks coverage when I purchased my RDX. Different dealers different packages?

So do you think I should get it repaired at the dealer or an auto glass repair service?

If your dealer can replace your windshield for free then of course dealer.

However if it's going to be replaced at a cost, that'll cost you an arm especially since the RDX has speed sensor windshield wipers. (Most dealers fix their cars through outside auto shops anyways) So it'll be cheaper to do it at your local auto repair shop.

My auto insurance will cover windshield replacement. So I'll probably take it to the dealership.

Thanks guys!

wouldn't that increase the liklihood of the insurance company increasing your premium?

No, they do not surcharge you for a windshield replacement in MA or increase your premium rates. But they get us for everything else

I guess we operate differently in NYC. The auto insurance companies charge you for EVERYTHING.

Hope you get that repaired asap and trouble free during the process!

Why not put a clear bra on your windshield?

Just to update, the dealerships at Acura use outside glass repair companies (J.N .Phillips Auto Glass).
So I called J.N. Phillips and they came to my work and instead of replacing the glass windshield they inserted a special Resin into the chip/crack. Where it was on the passenger side and was not impairing my vision I liked this alternative! They claim that the resin will harden and bond with the layers of the glass windshield. It will be as strong as before guaranteed not to crack any further.
In fact the chip is actually smaller looking and the hairline cracks have disappeared after the procedure.
All in all I am happy with the results! They even contact and bill the insurance company!
