What washer fluid are you using?

For those in the frozen tundra, what washer fluid do you use to keep your washers from freezing?

Today was about 24 degrees and they froze up (again). I think Acura put crappy fluid in that can't withstand cold temps. I never had this problem in my old car. I tried siphoning it out and replacing it with Rainx washer fluid (orange stuff) but the way the washer reservoir is situated, I can't get the tube all the way to the bottom to get it all out. So I'll either have to find a better siphon that doesn't have the tube curl up inside the reservoir, or just try to use it up.

Anyone use the yellow Prestone stuff?

Any other suggestions?

No problems here

Our temperatures have been hovering around 0 lately and my fluid hasn't frozen once. The RDX still has the same washer fluid that it came with. Strange.

We've been having sub-freezing over the past of couple of days here, no problems. However, my car recently went through servicing so they topped it off with their own washer fluid. I've tried the yellow Prestone and I think it's slightly better than the older blue stuff.

Haven't had any problems with the "stock" washer fluid in a couple of -10C (14F) days. If I run out, I usually buy fluid that's rated to -40C (-40F)... if that stuff freezes, you have bigger issues!! I get mine from Canadian Tire (which you likely don't have handy if you're South of the border), but Walmart should offer something similar.

You don't have to siphon out all of your old fluid. If you got most of it, then it will mix with the newer stuff and you'll be fine. Just might reduce you're freezing temp to -38C or something...

Interesting. I had the same problem -- but only one of my jets (driver's side, natch) was frozen. This happened two or three times on a recent road trip. Temps were in the teens and 20s. That is some CHEAP washer fluid! Or there's a clog in my jet, who knows. I have used the anti-freeze stuff on other vehicles with success, but it always gave me worries about taking the finish off. I suppose I'm just overthinking the whole thing.

I should probably go buy some of that stuff again!

me too

My driver's side was frozen/not working since I bought it. now, all of the sudden, like it blew a gasket, coming out beautifully. Can't explain it. But maybe it was in the sun today or something, but the temps have been darting down (finally) here in the north east. I almost called Acura about it.

great thing about Hawaii is that you dont have to worry about it freezing over. so i just use distilled water. leaves no water marks.

I like the orange RainX. No freezing, no streaks, and it seems to make it harder for things (dirt as well as water droplets) to adhere to the glass.

Thanks for all the replies. I have been trying to use up the old stuff before reloading with some better fluid. I haven't had time to go look for a better siphon. I haven't had any trouble with the freezing again yet, but it has been around 30F. Tomorrow is supposed to get arctic again, so I'll try to get ready.

I know we've been spoiled by warm weather in the northeast, but is it spring yet? I wanna wash all the gunk off my car, but it's too cold!

Oh, and add to the list with the memory seats, trunk release...heated washer jets!
