Thumbs up What about taupe?

A question for those who have a taupe interior...Do you like it? And, more importantly, how is it to keep clean?

Forever i had it set in my mind that if i get an RDX (which is looking more and more likely depending on when i buy a house, and for how much) i'd get it with black interior. But on the lot the other day i saw a carbon grey w/ taupe interior, and i loved it. My only worry is that it'll be tougher to maintain that the black. Am i way off? Enlighten me!

I've got that combo (carbon bronze with taupe). It was not my first choice (I wanted blue with black), as I've never been a fan of tan leather. But the taupe actually has a whole lot of gray in it, and in particular I think it works well with the hard-to-define carbon bronze exterior.

As for keeping it clean, I am a fanatic and have to admit that black would be easier. The toughest part are the foot scuffs that my less-fastidious family members keep leaving on the door sills. The dash and seats, so far, have been just as easy to keep clean as the black interior was on my old CL.

I've noticed that the drivers seat is going to need attention. I'm the only one in my RDX 99% of the time. The entry sill is tough as I notice I must drag across it often. I would have preferred black, but the c-grey w/taupe really looks good to me , too. I'll just have to be more diligent on upkeep.

I personally wanted taupe. Black is just too much black for me. I used to like it, but taupe looks a bit more luxury to me with the added contrast.

At any rate, it's not hard to keep clean at all.

I like the taupe interior. Mine doesn't get dirty easily, though I don't have kids or dogs. Every couple of months, I wipe it down with leather cleaner (10 minutes). Taupe doesn't show lint like black and it is a little cooler during the summer.

I agree with the previous poster that taupe does feel more open and luxury than black. Black is maybe more high-tech, as long as you keep the lint off.

i wanted black but my white only came in taupe
Its not bad, although dirt shows up alot sooner (which is a good thing I guess, makes you get off your ass and clean it)

Other then that its nice.

Cleaned up well and quickly w/leather cleaner. Now, looks like the rest of the seats. The taupe does help being cooler in the summer.

I chose taupe (with CBP exterior) and it doesn't seem to be a probelm to keep it clean. I use the Maguiars leather wipes to make sure it stays nice.

I just picked up my Carbon Bronze/Taupe RDX last Sunday. I originally went in thinking I wanted Silver/Black, but the CB looks really good. And even with Taupe interior, there is still lots of "black" inside. Much of the dash, center console, and the steering wheel are still black.

Depends on how "sloppy" you are with the interior of your vehicles. All my vehicles have had black/ebony interiors - mainly because my Airedale monster roams in all of my cars except one.

Personally, I just don't have the time to keep my interiors looking immaculate and the darker interiors help me hide the mess a bit more.

Thanks guys! I think i'm pretty good at keeping things clean, but you never seem to know, especially if you hold onto the car for long periods of time. I've got a 2004 tsx with black and except for a couple of places its stayed pretty clean the past 4 years. But those couple places, with taupe, i worry would really stand out. I guess its a little too soon for anyone with taupe to give us a long term report, but your responses so far have been great.

I've got a TSX with the parchment interior and don't find the upkeep terribly difficult. I even have a dog who is frequently in the car and it's not a big issue. As some one else mentioned, the biggest problem I have with the light colored interior are stupid passengers who do things like holding the door open with their feet and scuff the hell out of it in the process.

The light colored interiors really make the cabin feel more open. The light leather and wood trim really give a sense of being immersed in luxury (IMO) too. Once I get my windows tinted that sense will be even more amplified.

The darker interiors make a more no-nonsense sporty impression.

What type of dog? I have a big lab and worry about her big claws potentially damaging the seats (she goes a bit nuts for the first 5-10 minute of any car ride).

She has made a few scratches in my Maxima, but the leather is a bit harder and there isn't as many perforations.

She's pretty small, a 25 lb. French Bulldog. I have a seatbelt harness thing that restricts her movements a lot and that certainly helps. I've had the car almost 5 months now and I haven't seen any substantial wear and tear on the leather. I probably should throw a towel or something over the seat just to make sure it stays that way though.
