Transmission Error Message and Blinking D
Transmission Error Message and Blinking D
So my 2011 just had the ole Transmission Error Message popup, check engine light, and Blinking D happen the other night when my wife was driving. I was not in the car, but she said it drove fine with all that going on. I had her park, turn off car, and restart after a minute, all the lights were then off except the check engine light. When she got home, checked transmission fluid level, it was clear and full, so I reset the battery and the car has been fine since (the last two days). My theory is that this didn't happen for no reason, and searching the forums, it is not an uncommon problem and relates to the two transmission sensors. Do I go ahead and replace them out of precaution or wait for it to happen again, and maybe go to Autozone for a scan reading? Going on a trip with it after Thanksgiving, so just thinking ahead on preventing some error code throwing me into a limp mode. Anyone have this issue and was it just to replace the sensors and move on? Thanks.
I'd recommend pulling codes first - you may not have to go to Autozone. The primary screen should show diagnostic codes if you navigate to the system settings. However you get the codes though, it will give you some insight as to what the car is reporting. If it is the transmission pressure switches, the codes should help confirm.
I will check that first then. Thanks Tomtwtwtw. Will report back once it gets resolved. Haven't worked on her for a while since it is now my wife's primary. Have to remember it is going on 11 years old in March. Still a baby with now 67k miles on her.
So error code on the display was P0847, 3rd gear pressure switch. Ordered non-Honda brand on Amazon since it will come this weekend with washer. Funny, I could get the honda part on Friday, but not the crush washer. And the crush washer on Amazon was over $7.00. Not kidding. SINS is the product manufacture for $20. Figured if it doesn’t work, send back, and put old one back in and order Honda replacement. Right now, no further lights or problems. But I have read, the light could come up at anytime. Seems like an easy replacement as well, so not tearing apart the battery and air tubing parts to get to one part.
Right on, good luck on the fix. The switches seem to come up for some folks, but otherwise the transmissions seem very robust on these cars and very rarely will you see someone with an outright failure. So, hopefully that replacement will fix the issue.
Just finished putting the new transmission sensor in. Not the biggest pain the butt, but close enough. Jack up car, take the underside clips off, ended up taking front tire off as well so I could peel back the wheel liner. Maybe overkill on removing the plastic stuff. The only question is did I tighten the part too little. 14 lbs. is not a lot of torque, and when I took the old one off, it was hardly tight it seemed. Probably going to order new plastic clips since the old ones have seen better days and all. Wife is driving it now, so we will see what happens. Thanks for the advice. As I was laying on the driveway with my body all contorted, I just thought man, I am getting to old for this shi!. Happy early Thanksgiving.
