Tpms

Does anyone know if there will be any problems if you put on wheels that do not have TPMS mounted in them?

any car that i have ever owned with TPMS sensors will throw a light if the aftermarket wheels don't have them.

just pull the TPMS sensors from your stock wheels and put on the aftermarket ones.

thanks thats what i thought....just wanted to make sure it is just a light that I will have to deal with. Didn't really want to have to have the tpms taken out of the stock tires and put in the aftermarket ones every year. I'll prob pick up an extra set for next year

There is a stealership in CA that sells new take-off TPMS sensors for $99 for 4 shipped. A great deal.

Why are you swapping wheels each year? Winter tires?

If you are running 20's, with the associated low sidewall, you really should have TPMS. Those low profiles will not protect the wheels very well without a lot of air pressure.

One more quick question. So i decided to get the TPMS for the rims and am having them installed this weekend. Will the system detect the new sensors automatically or do i have to have the system reset?

Nope, you don't have to do a thing. The system will recognize different sensors at each corner and perhaps send an error message for the first mile or so, but then they should establish communication and be happy.

That is the way mine booted up after installing new wheels with new sensors.
