Snow tires and stuff in YVR

Where are you YVR guys getting your snow tires and black steelies? I'm going to take the car up the ski slope this year. Definitely need snow tires. Do they even have black steelies in 17 or 18"?

I read of someone putting 16"s in his car....I recently put 18" (mine has the 19" wheel package) and got the rubber from town fair tire in New England...

YVR?

I just bought a set of 17" rims and Blizzack snow tires for mine...$1,200 shipped from Tirerack, that's mounted and balanced with TMPS installed. I haven't put them on the car yet, but they'll be going on in about 3 weeks.

Price Match

Just bought Blizzaks from the local Firestone dealer. Turns out they will match the delivered price from people like Mavis Tire or Tire Rack. It is a lot more convenient. I bought new 17" chrome look CRV wheels so there would be no TPMS issues, along w/ M&B. Total $900!

Try either Tire Trends or 1010 Tires.
See : http://www.tiretrends.com/wheel2/iuc...nterFinder.php

You can use 17" wheels, The Acura dealers should also carry steel wheel/tire package. They do in Kelowna where I live.
I went with just snow tires on the OEM wheels. Have Toyo Open Country GO2+.
Cost $ approx. $ 1,000 installed.

Not mounted yet

Sorry, I live near Boston and fortunately we haven't needed snows yet, so they're not on the RDX yet. I can send picture of the tire/wheel if you like.

I just ordered my 17" Michelin X-ice with steel rims from my local Acura dealership in Toronto. Everyone seems to be going with the Blizzaks though (I had the option of going with the Blizzaks for the same price). Is that a better winter tire?

Boon, mind if I ask how much the dealer charged you? I'm thinking about going the Tire Rack route that everyone is recommending. 17" with Pirelli. Here in Vancouver we only get snow in the city for about a week. I think performance tires will be a better choice.

Hey man, I got charged $1350 + tax...not the greatest deal, but I did some research and found that unless I had a contact near a border city (i.e. Buffalo) that I could ship to, it wasn't worth the hassle of getting Tire Rack to ship here...and still paying to get them installed. Especially now that our dollar sucks again.

I've heard good things with the Pirelli's too but went with the "safe" choice since Toronto weather ranges from big snow falls to dry pavement during the winter.

$1350 including the steel rims? That's actually a really good price compared to the tire rack shipping to a US address location.

$1200 for Steel rims? I got a set of OEM rims from e-bay for $500 with center caps and sensors, paid about $650 for rubber at TFT....I got all seasons though....Long story....mine are on now and I can't wait for the snow to come and try them out.

yeah i guess $1200 was a little steep if i waited a bit longer i'm sure i'll find a better deal. but hey can't put a price on safety, at least im now ready for snow and where i live i just might get some anytime soon.

I ended up ordering a set of Pirelli Scorpion from Volco on Lougheed. I called Lougheed Acura parts 3 or 4 times in the last 2 days but no one would pick up the phone. I even went there but waited 15 minutes for someone to show up at the counter for me to order the TPMS sensors. I was going to ask about their dealer package but got tired of waiting. I grabbed the TPMS and ran. They've been terrible lately. I used to get better service at Westwood Honda.

Thanks for recommending Volco. The guys there are superb! The best part is they're just a step away from the dealer.

RDXtremist, which building are you in? I'm doing my grad study up at SFU. We also have a rental unit at the Harmony.
