Infiniti EX35 coming....

Looks like this is what some of us wished the RDX would have turned out to be. I'm really intrigued by the 3.5 V6.

The EX35 looks nice, but that does not mean the RDX loses out to the Infiniti. Each car has it's own merits in the design.

nothing I read here really jumps out at me to make me think "wow, wish I had that"
still a nice car.

There will always be something new down the road that'll tempt the current owners.

Had the same thought on the Tribeca resemblance. Rest of it reminds me of a Lexus RX330 or whatever they're calling it these days. Not bad looking.

I dont like how the grille and the headlights from the new g35s seem to be ending up on every one of their new models. They need some variety in design for their cars. I dont like it, especially the back. The RDX is much much better, I like the FX though-"angier" looks more aggresive to me... haha

Good grief! You are so right - this is probably the styling direction that the RDX should have gone with... I love it! Can't wait to see the real vehicle!!!

I do not own a rdx. I did test drive one. I really like the way the rdx drives. I like the interior looks and the spacious interior. I have allways thought that acura's offered a good reliable product for the money. However I don't like most of the acura exteriors, except for the tl. I am a sport oriented car enthusiast. I like what has been happening to the sport oriented luxury segment, lately. I have been driving bmw's for over 6 years. When infiniti first came out, I thought they were very cheap looking. I did not see much difffence between the infiniti and the nissan. Since the infiniti m series has come out, along with the new 2007 g35, i must admit I have been very impressed with there new improved interiors, and especially the way they drive. The new g35, blows away the tl, IMO. I have a feeling the new infiniti ex, will out sell the rdx. IMO, the ex35, has a better exterior, a better engine( 3.5 liter engine). And will most likely, be more fun to drive than the rdx(however, the rdx is fun to drive). I still think that acuras, are a all around nice and comfortable car for the money. But they need to take a few more risks and improve there exterior styling. I think for the true sport oriented driver, most will go with the bmw or infiniti.

I am pleased, at least all the choices are out now. Haven't heard of any rumors from Mercedes or Lexus. I like both Infiniti EX and the Acura RDX, even though I like the RDX looks little bit more. The RDX engine is a huge miss in my mind, so the Infiniti EX will probably my first choice unless the price comes out too high. I will continue to consider the RDX especially if there are updates for 2008 or the price drops even more.

looks good. if the infiniti was out when the RDX was out then id probably give it serious thought. but im still happy i got my RDX. as far as the power plant goes. a V6 and a turbocharged 4 cyl are 2 totally different puppies. id take a turbo 4 any day. alot more fun to drive a turbo car.

I'd take the Turbo engine over the V6 anyday. Especially up here at 6000ft altitude. But I do like the front looks of it, not so much for the rear.

It looks weird like the FX. I'm sure you can count on it being way more expensive and to match the RDX tech lie-for-like will probably cost buku $$ after you've been accessorized to death.

Forget the EX, damn jap cars!

wait a minute...

I'd take the turbo 4 also. Had a 6cyl Lexus and the RDX smokes it.

I think the nissan/infinity looks like an overpriced subaru. I don't like the door lines or the bulbous hood. I think the RDX styling looks much nicer...front and back and side view... You know the interior on the RDX will be nicer and the RDX will probably be a better buy too.

When wife bought her Lexus RX330 (since traded for her RDX) I begged her to get the Infinity FX35, but she thought it looked like a shoe, and has since dubbed it "The Shoe." No doubt she'll think the EX is "The Baby Shoe."

I didn't see anything about the EX's overall length, but I'll bet its not as short as the RDX. IMO, RDX size and styling is ideal.

I think it looks nice. Will it make me get rid of my RDX? probably not. I had an Infiniti b4 the RDX, so I might ck it out, but probably not till '09.

It is barely smaller than the FX. I agree with the poster that said the FX is probably going to get larger.

I really think the RDX looks so much nicer. I wouldn't mind a longer WB though....

Well I traded in an FX-35 for my RDX. My #1 reason - GPS system was absolutely awful. I'm thinking that won't be any better.....

I dunno about that, maybe they get better............

Check out this video of the new EX35 "all around" video system. If it's indication they might have some cool tech stuff.

Scroll down for the you tube....

The all-around system is a really nice concept and not really that hard to do, all it takes is 4 cameras and an appropriate skew-correction system. With GL-like acceleration already appearing in cell phones and perspective map views appearing in standalone GPS Nav units, that won't be hard to do for an embedded technology in a Nav enabled car.

One thing they don't show which I'd be curious about - they don't show how cars and other obstacles appear in the system. It's easy enough to correct the skew for making the ground look natural, and even a low curb like in the video, but if there's a taller obstacle like another car or a person or a tricycle, then it must look really bulbous and odd as the system tries to apply its skew correction designed for the ground level to something not at ground level. We can already see how the simple rear-view camera in the RDX skews things due to its extremely wide-angle lens, but this system will be applying video magic well beyond a simple fish-eye effect.

That won't invalidate the value of the system as you should still be able to gauge your distance to these obstacles just like with the fish-eyed rear-view camera, but it will definitely spoil the magical "someone mounted a camera 20 feet above my car" effect that you see in the video...

(Not to mention that the end result in production may not match the beauty of the concept video, but such image transformation is possible in real time with known fixed camera positions so I don't see that it couldn't look mostly like the video for rendering painted lines and low curbs in an empty lot.)

I haven't.. no need to. I think Honda/Acura have the one to beat.....

I didn't realize it was so bad during the test drives. It took a couple of weeks of ownership to realize it was a stinker.

Well lets put it this way.... Nissan/Infiniti's system has a long way to go before it will be as good as Honda/Acura's. A LONG way to go.

You can't judge a vehicle by photos alone. I think the Infinity FX series looks really sleek in the photos, but way out of proportion when you see them in real life. The FX has external dimensions very similar to the Acura MDX but the giant hood on FX pushes the cabin backwards so there is much less cargo room than the MDX. If the little Infinity has the same proportions as the FX, but only smaller, then it could be very cramped inside. I would rather get a sedan than a SUV with little cargo space.

People complain about the 4 cylinder engine in the RDX, but at least the smaller engine compartment moves the passenger compartment forward, giving you better sight lines as well as more cargo space.

That thing looks very nice but infinity needs to drop the design engineer who keeps adding that tacky clock to every car they produce. Its like going to the inlaws and seeing there beautiful leather couch covered in plastic.

Very beautiful exterior lines, but the rear doors and seats look very cramped. It's hard to tell for sure since the rear is only visible in the edge of a fisheye picture, but it definitely looks like it lost some rear seat legroom. The LCD roof gives a really nice airy feel to the interior (and I'm sure the white leather helped).

(And ironic that the new pictures were uploaded on April 1st...)
