front brakes

so im @ 34k - and i think i need front brakes....pretty much 70% city, and by city, real city stop n go...i havent heard much squeal but my pedal is MUSH - usually all hondas ive driven will give you an initial hiss when the pads need to be replaced, but i havent heard it yet - but i also dont want to be crushing my rotors as well..

anyone replaced the front pads this early? my pedal is just too squishy for me to be comfortable, going 1/2 way to the floor for a good grab

I'm still on the original brakes on my 2008 RDX with 42K miles. Driving wise, it's been 50% city. Isn't there a way to clean the discs and pads to get more grip? Just curious.

Yea. The solution is to chuck the OEM rotors and pads and upgrade. Brembo blanks, slotted rotors would all make a difference. I just upgraded at 54k miles to Centric blanks and EBC green stuff pads.

how much life did your front pads have left at 54k?

I am at 30K and brakes have yet to be an issue or a worry.

yea, most likely not doing any sort of brake upgrade - unless this is how the brakes feel w/33k on them, which to me, is terrible - if the brakes are ok and this is normal, maybe id look to upgrading

I have noticed my brakes now need a little more input for them to grab and my RDX only has 8K on it. Pretty sad. It still stops fine with the slight extra push of the peddle and sometimes feels "grabby" which is a known issue in the '07 and '08' RDXs. Mine is a '08. It's livable and will deal with it until a break change is needed.

MMike, did you check, the Xclerate shop in Branford? they have "performance/upgrade" parts for Acura, don't know if for the RDX....I'll be worth a try, they are a site sponsor

yea - brake pads are fine, just that damn soft/sponge pedal and feedback. I drove (compared it) to a 2010, same feel even tho acura says the braking is better or improved its braking system, couldnt tell the slightest bit of difference in stopping power and or pedal response. It is what it is.
