fan comes on often

hi all, anyone else have this issue with their rdx..

my fan seems to come on often, even when the car is cold when first starting..

im thinking it could be a couple things, low coolant or some sensor? any ideas?

i did some reading, apparently fans coming on often are normal for RDXs? Even with the ac/heat completely off the fan cycles quite a bit when stopped..

Mine has done this for the two years i've owned it. 50k+ miles and no issues related to that... don't worry about it.

Is your climate control set to "auto"? The car will automatically adjust the fan speed depending on the direction you are to the sun.

I remember the fan coming on as soon as I started the car, even in winter time. I don't think that there is anything wrong with your car, just the way they are.

I've had my 2011 RDX for almost 2 years and the other posters are right, the electric cooling fan cycles frequently no matter what the temperature. I believe it is more the auxillary electric cooling fan that runs when the air conditioner compressor is engaged, which can occur even in cold weather. I've had no problems. It's just a normal quirk of the vehicle, as far as I can tell.

From what I noticed in my RDX (and most of my other vehicles) the fans only cycle if the climate control is set to auto or a/c is forced on. It shouldn't be on when the motor is cold, once it reaches operating temps then it will keep it at that temp and if there is no air flow then the fans will kick in.

The fan should not be running or cycling on a cold motor with climate control off.

Mine has done it since day one 6+ years ago. 76K miles now and none the worse for wear. Turn off the AC and it stops.

Ac is always on in my car, so that explains it.

Mine is always running. I think it's just a circulation thinng for the car, so that there is never any stagnant air in the car or in the system
