I am considering it as I live 250 km to the nearest dealer and 1 tow job off road side would be costly. I was thinking of the 6yr/100000km for myself as the 2000 accord I Just sold had only 50000km on it. Do you know if there is a time limit on the purchase of the warranty?I have had my RDX for 40 days now.

Anyway, I would hate for this thing to go into the shop with electical trouble and no warranty. Ouch

 

I just got a letter from Acura dealer telling me to buy extended warranty on my 4 yrs old RSX. And they offer me a $100 discount upfront. Not sure if that apply to RDX as well (mean we can buy it before original warranty expires)

 

I bought the extended warranty that covers the nav system as well, talked to the dealer and he said that if the nav system has problems then they have to replace the whole centre console, can cost 5000 - 7000, and since I put on about 25000km/year I thought it was a good buy.

 

I'm still mixed about this...I've had the RDX for 50 odd days now so I'm coming up to the 60 day limit. I've been pondering what other than electrical I would really need to fix that isn't in the powertrain warranty. I don't have the tech package so that rules out nav problems so for me to justify another almost $2000 I don't quite know yet. I'd be interested to hear from people that have bought extended warranty and have used it and the actual cost of that repair.

 

Can someone confirm if we have to make the decision of buying extended warranty within the 60 days of purchase ? As I mentioned before, I received a letter from Acura dealership for my 4 years old RSX, asking me if I want to buy the extended warranty !

 

I believe you can purchase the extended warranty for quite some time. The price however, goes up as the mileage or in service time increases. Call a few dealers and get prices, they don't all charge the same (I've seen differences in the hundreds of dollars) and if you buy the Acura warranty, it's good at any delaer anyway.

Those who bought the extended warranty in Canada, can you please share how much did you pay for it ? and which plan (mean how many KMs for how many years) ?
