DEER + quarter panel = $1200

so, here it is. i had a little dent (unknown) taken out of my left front fender today turned out perfect. proceeded to hand wash and clean and make all nice like. driving home from work, girlfriend calls to tell me i need to stop at the grocery store on the way. leave the grocery store and about 200 yards down the road, i catch to the left of me 3 deer running TOWARD ME. the first one ran in front of me and the second ran RIGHT INTO MY LEFT REAR QUARTER PANEL!!!...........i never slowed down. i didnt want to look at it. i was 2 minutes from the house. BTW: i live in a highly poplulated area with little to no woods area.....

pictures are on the way. already estimated at $ 1200 , so much for my tax return...THANKS MOTHER NATURE!!!!

You insurance will cover this, right? Just pay the deductible.

Ouch.

One worse thing than hitting a deer? Getting hit by one. I am sure you can attest.

SR-22: (http://www.carinsurance.com/kb/content10194.aspx)
An SR-22 is a document required as proof of financial responsibility by the court or under state law for persons convicted of certain traffic violations. Definition of an SR-22 from the Car Insurance Learning Center: SR-22 is a form which must be filed by the insurance company stating that auto liability insurance is in effect for a particular individual. Required when insurance is provided to an individual who was in an accident or was convicted of a traffic offense and was unable to show financial responsibility. Each state has different variations of this form and requirements.
SR-71 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SR-71_Blackbird)
The Lockheed SR-71 is an advanced, long-range, Mach 3 strategic reconnaissance aircraft developed from the Lockheed YF-12A and A-12 aircraft by the Lockheed Skunk Works. The SR-71 was unofficially named the Blackbird, and called the Habu by its crews. Clarence "Kelly" Johnson was responsible for many of the design's advanced concepts. A defensive feature of the aircraft was its high speed and operating altitude, whereby, if a surface-to-air missile launch were detected, standard evasive action was simply to accelerate. The SR-71 line was in service from 1964 to 1998, with 12 of the 32 aircraft being destroyed in accidents, though none were lost to enemy action.

SR-22 is also a small single engine piston plane made by Cirrus Design. Don't think he flies to work though.

I was under the impression that deer incidents were covered under your comprehensive policy, and any comprehensive claim would not increase your premium.

My comprehensive deductible is $0 and I've replaced windshields and a convertible top and never had my premium increased.

Might want to check it out before forking over a bunch of cash out of pocket.

little dirty...i absolutely hate driving around with a big dent in the side of my ride. the guy that i had estimate it said he probably wouldnt claim it, i dont know, i should call. i have progressive btw and pay $247 a month.

and no, i didnt stop to see how the deer was. i was going about 40 and he kinda "bounced" off the back of me. i just cringed and tried to swerve a little, there wasnt much i could have done. deer can take a beating and im sure he hopped up and ran on his happy destructive way. this is the second time ive been hit by a deer.

You par $247/month?!?!?! Jesus, you must have one hell of a record.

And even though the damage sucks, it could have been MUCH worse.

I also had a deer 'run into' my car. My insurance covered it under 'comprehensive' considering it 'an act of god'. It doesn't raise your insurance since it's not your falt.

I'd take that to Dentmasters in Manassas and see what they can do for you. They do some amazing stuff with PDR and have won many awards for their work. Doesn't look like you have any paint damage. Especially if you are paying out of pocket it wouldn't hurt to ask.

Tought to tell from the picture, but I had a similar sized dent in one of my previous vehicles and I had a PDR guy take it out...took him about 40 minutes to work his magic. Perhaps a second PDR opinion is in order?

It's based on how large and the size of the crease + angles that determines how it can/can not be fixed.
