Coolant Question..

Hey how's it going everybody? I was just wondering if you guys use the manual-recommended Honda coolant for the RDX. I just got the car recently, probably 2 weeks ago, and I checked the coolant reservoir and realized that it was near the MIN, so I figured I jump on filling it back up to MAX. Anyone else had the same experience? Should I just buy a non-Honda brand coolant? How much is the manual-recommended coolant at the dealers? And the last question for now is would it be bad to mix the coolant that's currently in the car with a different brand? Any help would be nice. Thanks in advance!

From the manual:

Always use Honda Long-life Antifreeze/
Coolant Type 2. This coolant
is pre-mixed with 50 percent
antifreeze and 50 percent water.
Never add straight antifreeze or
plain water.

If Honda antifreeze/coolant is not
available, you may use another
major-brand non-silicate coolant as a
temporary replacement. Make sure it
is a high-quality coolant
recommended for aluminum engines.
Continued use of any non-Honda
coolant can result in corrosion,
causing the cooling system to
malfunction or fail. Have the cooling
system flushed and refilled with
Honda antifreeze/coolant as soon as
possible.

Also the level of the coolant rises and lowers as the engine gets hot and cold.

notice that it says if you want to use non-oem fluid, then to flush asap. i think using non-oem is ok, but you also have to think about when it comes time for warranty. personally i just used acura long life coolant when i drained my system. its more expensive, but i tend to like oem unless its a producted hated my most (like the oil filters). i try to use oem most of the time for my car, i try to make it last a million miles and i dunno, it just me but it makes my car feel genuine and not having products from 10 different companies in my car. peace of mind that my car gets the good stuff

The coolant in the 02 TL-S is blue. that is how they can check to see if you had the coolant changed.
