Has anyone cracked opened the lock/unlock key fob receiver under the drivers seat?
Problem I am still having and havent been able to figure out. Car wont chirp when locked or unlocked, it does chirp when I try to lock it with the doors still open so i know it isnt the horn. The lights also dont flash when locked or unlocked. The dome light does come on though.

I did follow the manuals guide to hold down lock and trunk buttons.

didnt do anything. Figure there is some type of relay or fuse that controls some of the features that dont work.

BTW yes the panic still works when pressed.

 

It's your remote that's the problem, when you hold the trunk/lock buttons, does the light go solid?

 

yes it does and if i do it again it will flash. I have tested it with both of my key fobs. I get the same results.

 

Mine works sometimes and then won't work at all. Changed bateries several times. Seems to go through spells, works fine for a few days then won't for a few days.

did you try cleaning the metal contacts that touch the battery?

 

Did that the first time I changed the battery. The red light comes on everytime. I found if I just keep pushing the lock button (10 times or so) it will finaly start to work. PITA when it is raining though. I've started leaving it unlocked.

 

the doors still long and unlock, the lights just dont flash or horn chirps, so i dont have to worry about leaving it unlocked.

 

mine chirps sometimes, and then does not chirp, i would love to know how to fix this!

Mine never chirps either, just when a door is open and I try to lock it does it make any sound.

 

when i bought mine it didnt chirp, got a new remote, still did nothing, but then i took my car into acura to get some work done it chirped after but them stopped again 2 months later, lol. i now dont care if it chirps only if the alarm goes off when some1 smashes the window.

 

don't think smashing a window will cause it to go off, only if they open the door or trunk and maybe hood (not sure about hood)

 

Correct, we don't have knock sensors or glass pitch sensors on the stock alarm

 

WHAT!!!!!!!?????? som bitch!! well then i will be getting a new 1 instelled it looks like. a compustar, had 1 on my truck and loved it, told me the door/ window broken into, even showed that the bitch was running, perfect for those starts from a basement.

 

not many "factory" alarms will go off with glass breakage only when a compartment is opened

 

Mine has never chirped when locking or unlocking...it will make noise when I try to lock it while a door is open though. I recently opened my fob to clean it...took out the whole circuit board and washed the plastic parts. I also inspected the circuit board and everything is perfect.

 

You have to enable it on the remote

 

This helped a lot for me. I've been trying to figure out how to get the car to chirp when locking and unlocking. I don't have a manual and there is no one around here that has a CL for me to ask. Thanks so much!

 

UPDATE!!!!!!
So i finally figured out why my car wouldnt chirp or the lites wouldnt flash. Now I figured it out and know why it didnt work. My passenger side door lock wasnt (still isnt) working. I didnt realized that the actuator was locking the passenger side door. So my car has been unlocked for um I dont know 6 months. I hand locked the door and now it chirps and flashes.
Now to figure out whey the door lock doesnt lock.

 

could be a bad connection. also check your hood latch. mine wont chirp unless i manually put the hood lock in the lock position. but i have a cf hood so this is normal to me.

 

Ive checked my doors and they both lock and unlock, but I still get no chirp. What else can I check? I do notice the hood shaking a bit at highway speeds, could that mean the lock is not fully locked like the post above?

Not a big issue to me now, since I hear it lock and it does lock. But it would be nice to hear a chirp.
