Shifter Adjustment (97 CL 2.2 5Spd)

Well I thought I had a light case of gear notching where I would be driving the car in the morning and it was hard to get into 1st and alittle in 2nd then when it warmed up it was nice and easy

anyways now when I try to down shift to pass at say low speeds 20-40 from 2nd to 1st all i get is grind doesn't matter how much I press in the clutch every time.. I have to push with all I got and it slams into gear... obliviously I'm not doing this anymore but when I start out its going in easy now, its being picky where it wants to mess up

I was thinking fluid change but i'm leaning towards a clutch or shifter adjustment

guess its the syncro or something?

the only time I can get into first is 0-5 MPH it goes in smooth still.. all the gears do except the normal Honda/Acura notching that sometimes happens...

usually first gear doesn't go out though i havnt been dropping it that much

not suppose to be able to down shift never heard about that.. i know suby's are bad about it (WRX/STI) what about racing (roll) and such I can get it in gear halftime with heel-toe down shifting so I imagine tis the syncro throwing up the ghost

was gonna call TPS http://www.tpsautoparts.com/ to see if they got the parts

yall know of any other places that sell honda parts?? Im gonna do it myself already took manual transmissions @ school last year and worked on some manual trannies there and at the shop

Yea I think if you look in the manual it says not to downshift to first...1st is just used to get rolling and that's it...obviuosly if your rolling at 3mph its ok, just not downshifting to slow down for a corner or coming to a stop, I usually jsut leave it in 2nd until I push the clutch in.

you can downshift into first. its a question of how long its gonna last. yes wrx's are easy to downshift into first, also they were designed with racing inmind.

if tis grinding its probably the synchro starting to go out.

eventually, i'll start doing it more and more. GL.

This is what I thought to, I could've sworn I read it in the Manual?
