Exclamation Err 3 BETTER not be a disconnected radio!

OMFG!

So I was driving home from the movies in my new 98 2.3 CL; and my buddy goes to turn on the radio, and...... NOTHING!

It says Err 3 on the display to the stock radio! No button works or does anything except for holding "mode" that turns off the lights in the back lit display!

When I test drove the car it worked fine!
I am such a moron though, because when I drove it home from the car lot, I was more worried about the road then turning on the stereo ( since I have not driving in over 3 weeks!)

BUT when I stopped to eat on the way back from mechanichsburg; getting back in the car I noticed a blue wire on the passanger side floor. It was a small very thin blue wire. It wasn't "hot" because I would've been shocked, but I stupidly went and tucked it under the glove box!

THAT MOFO AT CLEAR CHOICE AUTO BETTER NOT OF F***** UP MY RADIO!

have you tried disconnecting the battery for a couple of minutes? when i replaced my battery it told me to enter a code. i mashed a whole bunch of buttons and the said some kind of error, i forgot if it was error 3 or not. try disconnecting the battery and if the screen says "coDE" you just to enter the 5 digit code on the anti-theft code card that should have come with your manual

Unhappy

uhh...i think every radio has its own individual anti-theft code so i'm not sure what to tell you man. im not too sure about this subject though so i could be completely wrong about why yours says err 3, it might be a different problem

The codes are specific to each head unit. There are a few other places to look for the code, like in your glove box on a sticker. This has been discussed recently and I forgot all of the other places you can find the code.

dunno if it helps any but my sticker came stuck on the botom of my ashtray, just poped it out and its right on there..... I had to call the previous owner for that info after my battery was pulled though. thankfully he's family, so yeah

if it were ME, id use this as an excuse to upgrade, but thats just me

*EDIT* I just checked my manual for ya and mine has no Err-3 code, closest thing Ive got is E-03, and thats a CD Changer malfunction

how an I supposed to know where what is in your car

*EDIT* LIke I said before, id take this time to upgrade, even a cheapo new one will be better than a 10 or so year old OEM unit... especially one that doesnt seem to work.... a good one will run around 100-150, or you can sheel out some big bucks like me and some others, buy a BADASS unit now so you dont have to upgrade or anything later, these will run you probably 300+ though, and you get great quality

thus the little shurg and no F U back

its just an aftermarket CD player is all I was talking about, you can get um at any local car audio place, or big name electronics store like Best Buy, Circuit city and all them

regardless of if you choose to go entry level or top end I recomend Alpine as my top choice of brand name

Trust me I'm upgrading after X-mas, I have all the salvaged stuff from my previous 2.3 Cl that was totaled. The only reason it's not in yet, is it's soooo damn cold out. I also was planning on getting a nicer head unit with some money from the holidays.
