Fan goes on when car is off

I am aware that there is a leak in the heater core so I have to put coolant every so often. But lately I noticed that when I turn off the car, the fan goes on. It only started doing that this past week. And it stays on for like 5 mins. It never did this before. Does anyone have any know if this might be caused by a bad relay, fan, or thermostat? The car doesn't overheat. The temp would fluctuate in traffic when the fluid is low, but other than than, it doesn't overheat while I'm driving or even when the coolant is full.

Strange, it sounds like there is a short somewhere.

Yeah! I have a feeling it's a bad relay that's just causing the fan to delay. I guess it's fine. It shouldn't hurt to have the fan going on like that.

As long as it doesn't drain down your battery...

The fan on my tsx runs after I turn off the car to cool down the engine. When I am stuck in traffic I hear the fan start to run-same thing.

there has been discussion on this before...im pretty sure our 2.xs were engineered for the fan to run for a few min after shut down if need be due to temp...mind does it every once in awhile and my CB7 did the same.

Mine's a 3.0. It's not suppose to do that on the 3.0 but the mechanic said it's just a delay cuz the relay is bad.

When I was driving today, I noticed the temp going up to half. Then it would go down a little bit while I was driving. I don't know if this might be due to the delay issue with the fan or if this might be cuz of a bad thermostat. Any suggestions? I also check the coolant level when I got home and it was still full.

Mine was doing the same thing you just described. I changed the thermostat and the fluid temp sensor thing right by the thermostat and haven't had a problem with the temperature flunctuating anymore.

MY 97 Does it as well, and it will sit there and run for about 5 mins after my car is off. I mean my car never over heats the fan defiantly runs when the cars on. So I just never took the time out to find out.
