'97 3.0 CEL O2 Sensor High Voltage (Bank 1 Sensor 2)
Hey All,
Got a '97 3.0 throwing a P0138 O2 Sensor High Voltage (Bank 1 Sensor 2) CEL code. CEL has been on for a while.
Would replacing Sensor 2 fix this error? If so, how hard is it to DIY? Anyone have suggestions / tips / advice?
I'm in California and need to pass a smog test ASAP, but would rather save the cash and fix it myself if it's not too difficult. From what i've read seems the hardest part is freeing the sensor.
Thanks in advance,
Aaron

I had the same problem...get the part number for the OEM denso O2 sensor then plug it into the ebay search bar...i got my OEM denso 4 wire O2 sensor for like $60 shipped...its a steal.
our cars only have one bank...sensor two is the post cat sensor...i recommend a box end wrench bc they grip the sensor better than an open end wrench...mine came right out. then antiseize the threads on the new fitting and put some dielectric grase in the connector and your good to go.

My 97 did the same thing 2 weeks ago. FYI all I did was clean it real good with a wire brush and a tip cleaner (mini file) and blew that shit out with the air hose. Hardest part was getting it loose , a lil wd-40 goes a long way and it will be way easier if you loosen up that p.o.s heat sheild but that is a pain too.
In the long run... it was a free fix cause the light never came back on (after i disconnected the battey for a min to reset e.c.u) ive driven it everyday for long periods of time since with no issues. do this first cause a new one is around 50-65 bucks and more if you have someone else do it...
good luck
