1997 Acura CL 2.2 "VTEC" not working

I can't seem to figure out why my VTEC isn't kicking in, I replaced the Solenoid with a used one from my friend's accord & I cleaned the EGR Valve as well. Any suggestions?

I'd check to see if there is an oil leak around the solenoid. The rubber seals can harden and become to brittle to keep the oil in. I noticed on my buddies civic that the solenoid depends on oil pressure to function properly, so if there's a leak it won't work as well, and you'll notice a loss in power too.

I think my solenoid is leaking. I knew my distributor was leaking but it looks like my solenoid is leaking too. My VTEC doesn't work either.

check your cam actuator solenoids. both should have 7-12 ohlms. (check them cold then again at operating temp) if ohlms are good remove the solenoids and probe them with 12 volts to make sure they are clicking (... redirecting oil flow) do this multiple times as your problem may be intermittent. if all is still good suspect a sticky cam or timing belt issue. sometimes running a quart of trans fluid through the engine rite before an oil change will free up the cams but I didn't tell you that

I know there are a few conditions that must be met in order for vtec to engage. Oil pressure needs to be seen at the vtec solenoid. And your speedo/tach need to work as well. Sometimes the screen on the vtec solenoid gets clogged. If all these things are good it should kick in. Maybe the used solenoid is bad? Can you test it on a different vehicle?
