SS brake lines installed

Alright so it took about 3-4 hours to install and bleed the new brake lines but they're awesome. No more slushy brake lines. The braking is extremely even and controlled no flex or anything in the lines. I lied in my last thread: they are covered in a plastic coating to protect the stainless steel braids.

Anyway...

And back right (a bit different setup and harder to take a picture of):

I'd say with new pads and SS brake lines that's about all the braking power I'll need. The only reason these feel weak to me is that I'm used to my mom's BMW... so much braking power the centrifugal force stalls the engine if you slam on the brakes.

... Damn.. photbucket resized them. Well, you get high quality but small images. Enjoy.

Haha.. how the hell do I do that? I park on grass/mud so it's not even worth it... just gets dirty in 2 days again. Rains all the time here, also. I always wash out my wheel well when I wash my car so at least there's no excess mud/debris. There's just a lot of caked on dirt.

Who makes these lines and what's that "plastic coating"? Did you put the coating on yourself or it came with the lines?...

Apparantly they're "Magnum Brake Lines". Got them from Ebay: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...m=230121027592

The coating comes with the lines. They smell like plastic out of the box

So you really notice a difference or is it all in your head to justify the 80 bucks and time.

Oh I really notice a difference. They're better than I imagined they would be. The braking is extremely even and controlled with no flex in the brake pedal. I love em. My brake lines were bad to begin with, I guess. Maybe worse than the average 1st gen cl owner so I may notice the difference more... but they're still worth it.

The only reason I got them was because the brake pedal had a lot of "mush" and we were pretty sure there wasn't air in the lines (I guess there could have been) which was robbing my stopping power when I pressed on the brake hard. You may want to take yours out for a test run and see if you've got a similar problem before buying a set and spending a good amount of time installing them.

I just baught two new front calipers, new rotors, pads, and lines. I know how to install all of these, but do you have any advice? Any gotcha's? I'm probably going to do this while i'm down there putting in the new shocks. Thanks!

Gotcha's? Oh man, it's been a while since I did those haha... As far as I can remember there was nothing particularly difficult about doing it besides having a few troubles with angles when trying to tighten the bolts. Bleeding the brakes was the part that required the most thought
