Talking Finally Installed Headers.

I didn't know that installing these megan racing headers would be such a big pain in the ass. They forgot to send me a gasket for where the collector goes into the cat. I got one at oreilys for 10 bucks.

Installed the headers, but turns out the new collector was offset by a couple degrees so it wouldn't join up with the cat. I had to take some vice grips to keep the collector and cat held together tight enough to bolt the spring bolts together. Tightened them up. I started her up and she is running good now. I've also noticed a dramatic increase in horsepower.

Only thing I'm urked at is that the headers were offset a couple degrees. Pain in my asshole.

nice, a better breathing engine is a happy engine. i just ordered some dc sports ceramic's for my j30a, they have the bend for the cross member so shouldnt be to bad to install. wanted comp-tech's but couldnt justify the price, i know ceramic headers can crack but if i have to buy another pair its still cheaper than the comp's. i didnt get megan's, or b.x.b. cause the fitment work needed so.... we will see in the winter...????....

Yeah, that's a common theme with megan headers, you should have researched them on here before ordering them.
Enjoy the pep

I was actually thinking about buying those for my 2.2, although the price of these was good enough for me. I just didn't like how hard it was to install them. Its a shame the CL isn't well known. Would have been easier to find parts for it . BUT next project Cat back exhaust Gotta save up money.

Yeah... I just loved the price of em, I don't wanna have to spend an arm and a leg on my shit. But I guess thats the price you pay for going the cheap way. shame shame. I am pretty happy with the pep. But I'm probably gonna take them to an exhaust shop to have them actually fitted right. Bent a couple of degrees. Because there is a small leak I think, I'm not sure. I can feel a rattle at times but only when I let off the accelerator and I can smell gas at times. BUT the gasket is working pretty well on sealing it its just theres a delay at times and I think it might be due to the leak.

finish the exhaust and then id put on some aluminium pulley's if i were you, makes a big diff. in rev's and will give your cl 4h.p. - 6h.p. at the wheels (4cyl).
good to see cl's still getting cared for.

there is a honda accord 3" full exhaust at the junkyard I live near. I'm thinking about just putting that on my cl instead of spending the money to buy a full exhaust. Although I do not like the exhaust tip thats on it. I'm gonna get that shaved off and put mine on.

hell yeah. saving money and improving the cl is a double win. when i was a boy i want to the wrecker with my bro. when he started to drive and there was a done motor and tranny in an old nova, we never took it for obvious reasons but you can find some good stuff at wreckers if you look hard and do the work to get em.

yup, you definatly want some back pressure, not enough and you will lose torque like "97cl2.2 said" and you can burn valves. i got 2.5 inch on my 3.0 with dynomax muffler and cat delete. when i put header on (here in 2 weeks) im going to get the cat delete off and a high flo cat on, should keep the back pressure good and reduce a little co2's.

its a header thread so im running with it.

just got in from the garage, in antisipation of headers i took exhaust apart (3.0L) and it was so easy (with air tools).
tools used
-liquid wrench (a must)
-9/16 wrench
-1/2 drive socket wrench
-9/16 mm socket (1/2)
-12mm socket (1/2)
-14mm socket (1/2)
-2 inch extention for 1/2
-air gun set to 105psi
-10 inch extention for air gun
-adjustable wrench (up to 1 inch)
-small metal pipe 10 inch long 3 inch wide (lol, you sick fucks)

1st- drove up on some wood blocks for hight (dont use my ramps with the cl).
2nd- liquid wrenched all bolts to be taken off
3rd- with 9/16th took apart the cat delet from the y pipe.
4th- with adjustable wrench took out oxygen sensor
5th- with the air gun, 10 inch extention and 12mm undid the y pipe from the exhaust manifolds
6th- with a lot of liquid wrench and a gentile touch took off the exhaust manifolds
7th- waiting for headers that are in transit.

bboooohhyahhhh!!!!

My CL is my 2nd car, but Its my first stick. I wanted a stick so bad. I originally wanted a 1995-1999 Mitsubishi eclipse, but when my dad showed up with a manual white acura CL to let me see it I was pretty awe struck....it didn't look like a car I'd ever seen before. I didn't really know what to think of it. once we bought it and I learned to drive it I really loved it and fell in love with everything about it. I love stick now and will always love my white 2 door acura CL I rev match, double clutch, its so fun

hell yeah, you will have good & bad days with your cl but if it ever leaves you there will be a cl sized void in your soul.

i thought the same thing when i seen mine, i was looking for a civic for some better gas milage, i had never seen a cl till that moment and i bought it the next day, its been the vehicle ive owned longest now, ive sold some weeks after getting them but not the cl.
