Window Regulator Question

Hey guys so just throwing this out there because i'm thinking of purchasing a set of window regulators just in case and have it on hand. I feel like the passenger side window is getting slower and slower. So the question that i have is, would all i need is the window regulator motor. I've found a good buy on ebay, a lot cheaper than acuraautoparts . com

Here are the part numbers that i found..
Part No. 72210SV2003 (Right)
Part No. 72250SV2003 (Left)

Here are the links to the ebay site..
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...K%3AMEWAX%3AIT

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...K%3AMEWAX%3AIT

I double checked with acuraautoparts . com to make sure it was the right part number and it matches up. But again my question is, would that be the only thing i need??

TIA

Nope, you have the replace the whole thing. I thought the same thing too, but according to All-Data, its the whole assembly, plus I checked it out myself, theres no way you would cut the wire and replace back onto the new motor since its already enclosed.

that is actually the whole thing you are showing in that eBay ad. I have replaced mine and its really simple to do. Here is a tutorial on how to change the window regulator https://acurazine.com/forums/1g-cl-diy-faq-74/window-regulator-replacement-diy-762884/

yup thats it. the only other thing i can think of is the hardware. when i bought my aftermarket regulator it had studs but didnt come with any nuts to secure the motor to the door. the oem had open threads for a screw to go into. might have that mixed up in my head but either way it was just a quick trip to the hardware store

the ones I replaced used the same screws and installed just as the one that I took out but it could have been a replacement unit itself to be honest as much as these things seem to go out

Cool!!!

Thanks everyone for your quick responses and experiences!!

I definitely don't want to be stranded with my window not being able to roll back up or anything like that so i'm gonna jump on this asap before anything bad happens!

Thanks again!

So i just heard back from my mechanic and he said that the ebay ones are aftermarket ones and they might break faster. Is it worth the investment to get the quality OEM ones? i get 20% off so it turns out to be about $130 each, so almost a $100 difference between the two..

let me know what you guys think about that. TIA again.

I would get the eBay ones, they are no worse than the OEM ones in my opinion, and neither of them are that great. You can buy 3 eBay ones for the price of 1 OEM and chances of you having to replace it 3 times is pretty slim. It only takes about 20 minutes to change so its no big problem

ebay ones for sure.
and some people say to grease the tracks to make it last longer
i didn't do it when i replaced mine, and mine got real slow again, only took about a year or two to get that way so i figure it was the not greasing it part
and you don't have to replace it right away, you can always buy it after the regulator fails.
it happened to me in the middle of winter, so i took the regulator out and propped the window up with a piece of a hockey stick i cut
it actually worked pretty good, kept the window in place closed securely, and i just left the panel off till i got the new regulator in

You could do what I did for a while: Shoved a piece of Styrofoam and just wait till you have money to buy one. I bought mine from some part shop. It was a Dorman regulator ($89+ tax, came out to $97), but yeah as most members here said there were no threads to mount it on the door. Theres one so I just used that one and used some magic to keep the plate on the motor from being loose. Works like a charm and I'm glad I can bump with both my windows down now....time to work on the axle now... -_-

thanks again everyone for your input!!

man i'm torn between which one to get! if i go with the aftermarket ones i'll save about $150 but it would give me a piece of mind to have OEM ones that should last longer and have better quality..

I got the eBay ones and put white lithium grease on the track and it is still doing great a year later so not sure if this helps but I would rather be able to buy 3 for the price of one. Just remember the one that came with the car is OEM and it went out as well so.....3 to 1 sounds pretty good to me
