Window: "Crack, crack, slam"

I went out to my car this afternoon, and tried to put down the driver's side window. When it was about 1/4 of the way down, I hear this CRACK, CRACK, CRACK sound, and then SLAM, the window falls straight down the rest of the way.

So, it looks like I'll be taking my car to the shop tomorrow morning. Any ideas of what I'm up against here ($-wise)?

[I swear that I've had more trouble with this car than anything else - haha, wonder if it'd be worth more to me if it gets stolen.]

that would be the dreaded window regulator that constantly goes out in all honda cars. I cant remember how much it cost me last time to get mine fixed but i want to say around 200. Kinda sucks especially since both my windows have slowed down now and i probably will need new ones soon

I got a new on eon acuraautomotiveparts for $120 shipped then installed it myself, it's pretty straightforward install, there is a DIY somewhere too.

$200? Buh...I guess at this point I'm just hoping that the window itself isn't broken. The "crack creck crack" sound was a little "glassy."

I'm guessing that is more of a '97 thing. Yes? No problems with windows so far.

Thanks for the offer, but I'm just going to go to my mechanic. I'm just too busy this week to do this myself. Plus, I live downtown, so even 1 day with no window is pretty risky. (It's in a garage, but the garage is too small for me to be able to close the door.)

I had mine rigged with something holding the window up. it was very discreet, at first I had wedges in it, then I took them out and rigged something to hold it up inside the door till I got the regulator, took me 20 minutes + about 10 minutes fabrication time for the internal setup, then took me about 30 minutes to install the new regulator. It's gonna be either $120 ordered online + ~$80 install at shop, or like $300 if you get it all at the shop.

i got one from HAP in racncho cordova and the motor makes ridiculous amount of noise and i lost the one touch down feature. based on my research with any aftermarket regulator u will loose the one touch feature. i hope i can return it all together and spend a little more $$ for an authentic honda part.

if u can spit out the extra money for an oem regulator do it. just my :two cents:

Wouldnt the one touch feature be in the actual switch and not the regulator...I dont know it just didnt sound right.

The one touch is triggered to turn off the motor by a sensor in the regulator. If it were in the window track mechanism, it wouldn't matter, but it is in the regulaor motor assembly.
