Window Is Broke

okay so i was going to safeway and i close my door, i hear a snap and then all of the sudden the window starts to roll down by itself, goes to about half open. so i try to fix it but end up pushing the glass all the way down, i take it home and try to disassemble it and troublshoot, but a white piece of plastic comes out, it looks like its been snapped off or broken, so now my window doesn't roll up and i don't know where to get this fixed at, anyone know what the problem is? or where i can get it fixed at for a reasonable price? how much ya think it'll cost? i've been having a problem with the driver side window too recently, the autodown would never put the window all the way down, but now the window doesn't even go up....need help asap...thanks guys

The window works on a cable and pulley system. The cable did not break, it was the white plastic piece that broke. You need to buy a Window Actuator, NOT the motor. There is a large vertical bar that has "taxi" (for lack of better words) that the window is connected to. When you push the button, the "taxi" moves up and down this bar. The motor makes the cables move and makes the window move. Take off the door panel and the white plastic lining, and move the window to the "down" position. There is a hole in the metal of the door that accesses the bolt on the "Taxi" I think there are two bolts. Hold the window in place (where the bolt lines up with the hole) with some special tape so you can remove both bolts and remove the actuator. There are several bolts holding the actutaor in place, remove all of them and take the actuator out.
You can get a new actuator on ebay for the Accord for about $100. If you dont wont to do the install, shops around here charge about $50 for install.
Good Luck

alright im headin back to san jose on monday, winter session begins.., but it sounds like the motor still works when i hit the window button. I think my best bet would be to buy a new window actuator and then bring it to a shop to install, think that will solve the problem?

one more thing, my AIM screen name is the same as my a-cl name, azn5ucka86

thanks, i will probably leave my car in sf for this week, i don't trust my apartment garage to leave my window wide open in

It would lengthen the life of the accuator if you lube the window seal on the inside of the door.

i had to get the one for the acura itself. according to acura vs. honda which i called both they were both different partnumbers. (2door accord vs. cl) i payed 135.00 for mine and got it from acura. easy as hell to replace, and the regulator comes with the motor already attached. or go to a junk yard and try the 2dr accord.

the website is www.1aauto.com. they have the window motor and regulator together for $75.00 and ships quick too. go to the website, go to the left hand corner, punch in your make and model, hit power window motors and the part will show up(2.2 and 3.0 use the same part so ignore the year and engine size).

i hope this helped you out i know it sure beats paying $130-$180 for a part if you can get it for half price somewhere else brand new.

Get the shit from 1A Auto. I ordered mine through ebay. I've gone through 2 window regulators (I'm on my third). The cables inside the motor got tangled on both of them. 1A auto offers a lifetime warranty. They've saved my ass twice so far.
