Why am I so slow?

I hear all you guys running low to mid 16's but I only run a 17.2
What reasons could influence such a bad time. My car runs perfect. Knock on wood. I'm thinking 40% thread left on my tires, spark plugs aren't tourqed to specs, and that's about it. How much difference does this make? A full second you think. Maybe I should get my RPM's up off the line. Well here is what the slip read.

.781 R/T
2.627 60 ft
11.106 1/8 mile
63.29 1/8 MPH
17.24 @ 80.68 1/4 mile-MPH

Practice makes perfect!!!!

Also how many miles does your car have?
If its got over 80,000 their is this blue stuff called Restore which is pretty damn good stuff. You add it to your oil after an oil change and it helps to restore compression. Its definently a must for older cars because it restores some hp. Also try buying some fuel system cleaner it will burn off any excess carbon sludge that might be causing problems around the fuel injectors. You can buy these at just about any auto store.

I saw you had some audio equipment how much does it weigh? If its just a little sub and an amp it probably wont matter, but if you have the full audio setup you may have a signifigant amount of weight

Every bit of weight affects the power to weight ratio. Remove the subs, spare tire, maybe lower your tire pressure a little if you spin off the line. If not spinning off the line you need to launch at a higher rpm, like around 3500 - 4000. The hotter the air temp, the slower you will run. Your car may run a little richer than others which will run slower. Have someone run your car that does it all the time at the track and see what they are getting. It may be you just need a little practice.

Re: Why am I so slow?

Hmmm.... I have a 99 Auto 2.3 and here's my times for the eigth:

.647 R/T
2.519 60 ft
10.997 1/8th
63.73 1/8 mph

I have a generic short ram intake and I took out my sub box, spare tire and jack.

you can lose three tenths of a second by working on your reaction time, a perfect light is .400.

It is.

BTW: Reaction time does NOT affect your ET. You can sit at the light for a minute; but your time does not start unitl you break the beam.

[Reaction time only counts when your in bracket racing or on the street.]

a perfect light is .500 anything less is a redlight.

check the timing on the engine. also, your fuel injectors might be clogged, fuel pump could be acting up, timing could be off, clutch could be worn.....

please tell me that you ran with the a/c off and all the windows up.

other than that lower the tire pressure to 23 lbs in the front and launch the car at about 3250rpm.
